That great Gretsch sound! Although both kits sounded fine. I actually combine both worlds with a Gretsch kit and a Yamaha Dave Weckl snare drum. Mix and match.

Love the sound of the gretsch. I am playing slingerland vintage 1959. I thought you put a different mic on the bass a week or so ago sounded much more forward in the mix.

though I'm a Yamaha man myself that kick sounds AWESOME

as a variation, putting a bassdrum on the ah of 4 would sound nice i think. Like a transition into the new 4 bars. You'd get that 'double' effect because of the bass on one.

Ohh, my misunderstanding, anyway it is a really nice drum kit! I'm in savings for a Mapex Horizon Birch and switching it to the 4 piece style. Anyway I love the vids man, you teach me little vital things that make my bands songs that little bit better which I thank you, and I will recommend this page to any of my musician friends who want drum lessons but I don't have the patience! hehehe :)

Afrobeat Tony Allen stuff is great! What kind of snare is that ? What are the dimensions on the kit? It sounds more defined than the Yamaha. Both companies make great drums!

Sweet lesson. Kit sounds great although you only played the snare and bass drum haha. I have a idea for your pay site. would it be possible for you to have some mp3s to DL of simple bass lines to practice these beats to? It is hard to get motivated to just play to a click and it would add a whole new level to practicing and learning. Like I said nothing real crazy just simple bass grooves. I am sure people would not mind paying for them.
