We had to dye our ponds for algae and the great blue herons. After I put the dye in we stopped getting herons. Also just looks good

You really need to get rid of the mud first to get the dye to work. You need about 15 pounds of Aluminum Sulfate and add separately 7.5 pounds of barn lime to keep the alum from lowering pH too much and killing fish. 6 to 8 pH is the range for fish. Actually you should have treated your area near your pond w calcium to prevent the mud from floating into the pond in the first place.

I put in dye every year after winter. Its always muddy then. I put in pond dye, and never had any problems at all.

since the pond is deeper than usual i'd say put an extra pint or 2 of pond dye to reach a true blue color

Oh wow, I didn’t know pound dying was a thing! I thought it would be good to have some plants growing in the pond? Like for oxygen and food for the fish and ducks? But I guess too much algae will be toxic for the animals.

Algae can have toxins in it, but the more important effect is that huge algae blooms will block sunlight from reaching other plants, which in turn disrupts the food supply of the fish and also the oxygenation of the water. It can also in this way alter the temperature of the pond.

I think what we need just use filter, and left it for a month after that, and my pond have good green algea But when i put many fish in the pond, the algea turn to a bit darker brown but still clear
