Ever wondered how to blur out a face, licence place or serial number in a video? I will show you a very simple and quick way how to blur any object in Final Cut Pro. We will learn how to use Gaussian and Pixellated Blur using Masks, on 4 different examples. Hope this helps, enjoy!

Hi. I have a video that moves around a motorcycle, and I want to blur the GPS screen; but with this tutorial (which is great, BTW, I learned a lot!), I can't find a way to get the blur square to stay in one place, whilst the camera moves around ..

Is there a way to do moving objects, unlike the car example, one that might be stationary but the camera position is moving around...

I actually figured out how to do this from another video and that is a super cool feature... If you haven't done a video it's worth doing. I see that you do reviews, I have a reviews channel on youtube as well and am an Amazon Influencer and they reject videos if there is a house address, license plate or even a label on a box that appears to be a shipping label and say personal info has been shared. because i'm often moving it is very hard to block stuff but the tracking feature with the Gaussian blur will be a life saver for me.

Tereza, EXACTLY what I needed. Forgive me for messing up the statistics on this video. I didn't need to adjust the shape. I just needed to learn how to apply the mask and adjust the left-right-top-bottom of the rectangle. Your video told me PRECISELY what I needed to do to apply my gaussian blur rectangle mask to obscure the email address in my video. Keep creating!

Thank you!!! At 1:07 you have yellow "guide lines" to help you duplicate the clip in the exact spot. How do I turn those on? My clip isn't lining up perfect so it looks choppy. Thanks!

Sorry for replying so late! I think you may mean Snapping? Press the N key to turn on/off, or you can click to activate it clicking the middle icon where Effects/Transitions are. Hope this helps!

super helpful!! thank you! I don't know if this is possible, but I keep having this issue where my clips don't "click" together they end up overlapping and I have to zoom all the way in to fit them next to each other perfectly, is there a short cut for that?

One issue I keep running into with this workflow is that when I am dragging the effect onto the duplicated clip it only applies it as a transition on either side of the clip. Is there something I can change to my workflow to stop this? I figure it out. I was adding the blur from the transitions not the effects minue.
