This is a start, but it would be more helpful if it included info about how to compensate for the hub size and spoke angle.

I was doubting my ERD measurement until I found some 292 mm spokes. With the J bends interlaced and the spokes at the slots of the nipples the fit was perfect! Published is ERD of 582 to 583. There could be some variation between lots. I've seen Continentals fit slack on a rim bead as well, and these are tighter than some. Good news is that my 290mm spokes should fit only 1-2 mm long. A couple of washers should erase some of that. Perhaps the Sapim Polyaxis nipples even more so when I get them. Doing cross 4 because I'm a heavy rider on a fixie 36. spokes.

This is a good example of how a large consulting company works to solve a business problem in a company. Only difference is that this guy is not charging anything for watching the video, thankfully.

Hi there. I know this an old video. But I want to ask something. Maybe it's a dumb question, Although I think I know the answer. Her it comes I'm going to build from 2 tubular carbon wheelset (50mm)to 2 clincher wheelset.(700c) I'm gonna use the same hubs. The frames I'm going to buy are exactly the ones from Light Bicycles. But I want to build a 38mm front and a 50mm rear. Will the spokes for the front be short or can I use them ? I believe maybe they will fit or not.. ? Thanks in advance

Hi, I want to use dt swiss r500 rim with dt swiss 350 hubs (12x142, 15x100), and after dt swiss calculations I should use 290mm, 291mm for the front wheel and 289mm, 290 mm for the rear, can I use 291 mm for all of them? And one more question, If I'm using the hubs with a center lock and adding 6 bolts adapter to them, should I use in calculator DBCL(center lock) or DBIS(6 bolts) hubs? MB someone in chat can help me, its my first wheel build :)

1:14 "bottom barrel underneath the thread" - what does it mean?
@LightBicycleOfficial Жыл бұрын
It means that on the D-Light spokes the width of the spoke narrows in the middle which means it can't be easily cut, a spoke like the Sapim Race is the same width (thickness) all the way along after the threads which means it can more easily be cut/rethreaded. However, it is better to order the right lengths of spokes than to cut them to size.

Good Video Question i am building 28 hole rear hub for 29er mtb should i go with 2 Cross or 2 Cross for 28 hole rear hub build ? Novatech hub with Sun Ringle Duroc 35 Rim - 29er
@Surfmus3 жыл бұрын
IMO. The less spokes the more cross patterns, in order to make it stronger. Go at least three crosses.

@@jonienglish3231 I'm currently lacing a set of Koozer 490 to Carbon Rims (27.5) it's being a while since I haven't done one and same method apply as riding a bike, "you'll never forget." What happens if you thread your spoke past the widest part of sapiim sqare nipple .. flush with the top of the sqaure nipple ..... will this have problems?
@LightBicycleOfficial3 жыл бұрын
We don't recommend going past the end of the double square nipple. That being said you shouldn't run into any problems, only if it's a single-wall rim.

its quite easy to calculate but why not cut the thread longer and cut off the surplus, its not a motorcycle wheel
@LightBicycleOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Hi Trevor, not every type of spoke can be cut. That being said, when you can cut a spoke, it makes more sense to measure and cut first. The end result will be tidier and more accurate than cutting off the surplus.
