I make a lot of dark melodies. Here is my tip. Pick a note. Go up a few notes and play 2 notes that are right next to each other. The semi tone switches creates a dark vibe.

tip for finding chords: - select a scale (melodic minor, aeolian) - put the scale in a sampler for about 3-4 octaves - the ghost notes can help you stay in scale and find the sound you are looking for tip for edison: - put your pattern with your melodies on the playlist. - select record on play in edison - let it record the loop 2 times and take the second loop because there usually is some delay in the beginning of the first loop - you will have markers that tell you when the song "jumps" so you can easily see where the loop begins and ends

You don't have to draw silent midi to see the scale you want to write chords or melodies in, just go to the highlight settings (click the arrow in the top left corner of the piano roll) and you'll find several scales from major to more unconventional ones, the lighter stripes are the scale notes and darker ones are ones that you may avoid but you can use them to create some interesting progressions of course.

I find beauty in contrasting melodies. I love makin 2 or 3 melodies at least, and having them all in the same vibe with open spaces in each melody, so that the melodies when together all fill in their spaces with contrasting notes. I dont know if im alone with that or if anyone thinks like that too, but great video G. I hope everyone walks away with knowledge and understandings that once werent accquired. Stay blessed killa💪🙏

at 7:10 save as in edison in a folder where you can easily access your homemade loops for later use. name them with a cool name, their bpm, amount of bars and the key they're in for organization. save yourself the trouble and do it then, especially if you collab often. also, you can spend an entire session making like 50 hot loops this way and then send them out for collabs later. drums can be an entirely new session on a different day as well, so it will be like collabing with yourself.

Yo I'm completely new to FL Studio and music all together. Only started yesterday. At 11:55 how does the beat change from one beat to the cloned one thats an octave higher if its all in one pattern?

Cut the loop in half. Make one half "unique" . Put the notes from that new pattern an octave higher.. Arrange to your desire :-)

Take a minor chord and transpose the triad down one half step, that’s what makes that dark and somewhat sad sounding Travis Scott sound.

If you're recording in edison the best thing to do is to loop in the playlist or pattern and then select "on play" rather than on input before you hit record, that way it won't record until you've begun to play the pattern and removing excess parts is much more easy and accurate
