In this video, I demonstrate a simple diy method to dial in and tune pod filters when installed on motorcycle carburetors. If you install pod filters on your custom motorcycle , bobber, chopper or café racer, you should make sure your fuel ratios and tune is correct.
For the advanced motorcycle engineer, the complicated carb kit mod method is here: • How To rejet for filte...

To fine tune this even better I found if you clamp the fuel line with a vise grips and by slowly loosening the grip you can get the precise fuel to air ratio, also saving fuel too while still giving more bhp because of the weight gained with the visegrips

@@IchibanMoto loving your ingenuity what about a roller squeeze type clamp such as you see in the hospitals coming from IV bags and or it's just a roller that pinches the hose and you can have that to where it's easy access just a thought I never thought about pinching the fuels

Hi, brilliant video, just the help I was looking for. Although the pods I have on mine are the angled type so they have a small elbow, Upon checking, due to the curve of the elbow it looks like the rubber doesn’t cover the apertures like in your video. Or would I still benefit from marking and removing those pieces? Many thanks

out of 1527 views so far, I'll be willing to bet everything on that over 1000 of them have been factory motorcycle manufacturers, they're probably watching it over an over, to dial that in for not production models yet, their factory racing teams. So the mechanics can be on call instead of at the tracks, the riders can make those tuning adjustments as long as they too put the reference marks on the modifications. Good work Ichiban Moto!

Is this necessary with most 4stroke 50cc scooters. Ive got a johnway gator yy50qt-6 and i temporarily put a pod filter in and mine runs fine. But im unsure after what ive read about long term use when it comes to what it could do to the engine or carb. Kinda torn on what to do.
@jonnijames
@jonnijames 5 жыл бұрын
your scooter probably has a piston slide accelerator setup i take it, where the throttle cable is hooked up directly to the needle , they seem to take to pod filters slightly better than Constant Velocity -Vacuum driven needle carbie. You will be running slightly lean, which will cause engine overheating and better economy but less engine life, even a hole in your piston if your unlucky , RARE though, easiest fix is turn the pilot screw anti-clockwise like Half a full turn ( note the 0-12 oclock position your screwdriver is on (360 degrees) and turn it 180 degrees anticlockwise. You will be laughing then
