Pasting wallpaper on the ceiling is more difficult than on the wall. Anyone who has tried this will soon find out what the difficulties are. However the task will be much easier with this device that I have designed and made in my home workshop. No ladders or trestles needed.

Dear Sir, I have already replied to these serious issues raised so here we go again. This device is for the DIYer and NOT for the professional builder and decorator. I have always been a keen DIYer. I asked a number of DIYers who were papering a wall if they have ever done a ceiling. They all replied "I once tried to and then gave up. The paper kept coming down on top of me". I built this for my own use and since then have sold 38 on ebay. Laying the first one on straight - the roller ensures that. How do you fill the 3 or 4 inch gap between the edge and the wall - cut a length of paper about one inch wider than the gap and put it up by hand without the device. Yes admittedly you will need to stand on a chair now and then. How do you stop the dangling bit from peeling off on its own while getting on or off the chair - stick it to the wall temporarily and then put it up when you next get up again. How do you line up the edge of the next strip - leave a small gap and, standing on a chair again, push the paper sideways starting at one end. Wrinkles are easily removed by peeling off half the strip and rolling it back again using the roller part of the device. How do you match up patterned paper - If you can't line up the patterns with the "tried and tested method" then you won't be able to with this device either so it would be unwise to use patterned paper here. Light fittings have to be removed whatever method is used. I have found that the only difficult part of the process is loading the pasted paper evenly onto the frame. Someone mentioned - What about the ceiling rose? Yes this is a difficult one. Either look on it as a challenge or don't attempt it. I think that covers everything (excuse the pun). I have deleted all the "gave me a good laugh" comments. I was thinking of making a follow up video about completing the ceiling after the first strip but at this rate it won't be worth my while. You can find fault with anything if you look hard enough.

By the time it took him to set up the clothes horse and put the paper up i would have the first piece up and be onto the second by now.also how are you going to match up the seams when you put the second piece up with that thing, you still have to get up there and close the seams the traditional way ,this is twice as much work, it's much quicker the traditional and professional way.
@richardmorris9741

Of course it's much quicker the professional way. This tool was meant for the DIYer who won't have the skills of professionals like you. If it makes you feel any better I have stopped making them about 18 months ago after having sold 40 .

This is a genius idea! But..... Im gonna make one instead of buying it lol !!................. The hardest part of papering a ceiling own your own is getting the paper up there, and thats what this contraption will be amazing for! i will make this tool but instead of laying 50cm of paper down the wall, ill stand on a step to secure the 1st part....... not at the joint but NEAR it......... then roll the rest along the ceiling and step up to secure the other end.............. now that the paper is up there and NEAR the joint, i will continue to paper the ceiling i usually would which is my secret lol............. but still this is an AMAZING idea, especially so for very long ceilings!!!!

I have replied to this type of comment a few times before. This product is for the DIYer and not for the professionals. I am a keen DIYer as are many people. I asked a number of DIYers who were papering a wall if they have ever papered a ceiling. They all replied "I tried to and then gave up. The paper kept coming down on top of me." I built this for my own use and then sold 40 on ebay. Sales stopped after a number of negative comments which I was able to delete. I then decided to call it a day and work on other projects. A number of people commented that I only demonstrated putting up one strip. I thought that that would be sufficient to show how the device is used. Anyone who can't see how the rest of the job is done should not attempt it.

So a d.i.yer doesn't want a professional job done. I'm not a professional and I wouldn't say I had much problem doing my bedroom 16×14 .... the reason I'm back now looking at how it's done is it been about 16 years when I did my bedroom now my wife wants me doing the living room . So am just looking at some ideas seen as I'm older now.

Shall I reply to this or shall I delete it? I'll reply and then delete it after a few days. A long strip of paper can't do anything else but go in a straight line. The actual direction is determined by how you start. This device is aimed at the DIYer not the professional decorator. One DIYer told me that she managed to get one strip of paper up using the 'tried and tested' method but it was so torn and messed up she had to take it down again. I originally made this for myself to make the task a little easier.

I bought this tool from you on eBay and am planning to use it in the next week or so with some textured beadboard wallpaper. It's prepasted and is supposed to be soaked, but I've done that for a wall and it makes the paper too delicate. Can I do this same technique by applying the paste directly to the ceiling or do I need to put it on the paper. Thanks!
@richardmorris9741
@richardmorris9741 5 жыл бұрын
Dry wallpaper is a bit too stiff to load onto the frame. I tried this with a bit of 'woodchip effect' wallpaper and it did not go over the rails easily and hang from the frame properly. It is best to paste the wallpaper first as this moistens the paper and makes it more flexible. However wet wallpaper tears easily and must be handled with care whether you are doing walls or ceilings.
