Quick tip 1: Use the cut page to import your media. It's great for viewing your media and trimming it on a timeline before you move on to the other tabs. Quick tip 2: The fusion page is a resource hog. You can add the very same effects under the edit page without crushing your system. (I've done that a few times) Quick tip 3: Gemini was correct to use a 4K on the project timeline; moreover, you can also deliver a fabulous full HD - Rec. 709 video for places like... KZfaq! Also, the free version of has most of the bells and whistles in the "paid for" studio version and.. and Blackmagic has a lot of tutorials on their YT page!

It was a bit tricky following where you were moving your curser, had to run back a few times and watch how fast you were moving to, but think I got it. You covered the Basics which takes care of MOST users, if someone wants to get Really professional with over and above, they can do that too. I am trying to replace some outdated kodak mediaimpression software which is no longer supported, and it has problems connecting to KZfaq now, says I am not on the internet messages, which is most annoying.

@@Gemini_Connect i wondered how you had the Title on the video in the left upper panel. When I did what you showed it put the title in, but at the beginning of my video I did and cut off part of the 1st video, it also showed the words in large print below it SAMPLE, I think you were demoing a fully paid for Software, and because mine was the freeware, that may be why this happened, and behaved differently than what you showed. Thanks

It was the same for me and Final Cut. I just jumped into that program without watching a structured video on it and ended up missing a lot of beginner basics 😅

Hi Gemini, I see Davinci is more easy than AP, which I’m using to edit videos. I have to manually find transition for b-roll, configuring video effects in the other tabs which nit comfortable. I think I will try this one

I've tried other video editors, and I like Final Cut also for it's ease of use. But Resolve has so many more features, and it's free.

I am getting error in davinci resolve as media offline for my gopro 11 footage. i can see other camera videos but for only gopro footage it is giving error so can you suggest any solution for this?

Very well done! Thanks! I also use Resolve, but only when I am at my desk with a large monitor attached. It doesn't seem to lay out well when I'm just using my Windows laptop. Not sure if it's the same on a Mac. As I may want to do some video editing on my laptop while traveling, do you have any tips for making Resolve more functional on the smaller laptop screen? Or can you recommend another more laptop friendly editor while traveling? Thanks so much for all your excellent content! 🙂👍

Nevermind! I figured it out. When I had my laptop connected to my external monitor and then dragged Resolve onto my laptop screen, things wouldn't fit. However, I just tried firing up my laptop on its own, not connected to the large monitor, and everything looks fine. The resolution on laptop in standalone mode is 1920x1080. Must have been a resolution issue when I had my laptop connected to my external monitor. All good now! Loving Resolve and thanks again for all your great vids!

Great video. I use epidemic sound as well for my video files. You have some great information. I did have one question. Since you are a mac does the software allow you to drag in your mov files from your photos folder in case you short on your iPhone?

Good question! Yes, you can drag files in from any camera, even smartphones / iPhones

Depends on the lighting conditions. If it's very bright and contrasty out, we shoot in flat, but other than that the GoPro color profiles are fine IMO.

Video editing is pretty complicated at first, but it gets much easier the more you do it and get used to the work flow. No music included with Resolve.

How do you resize 4:3 footage into 16:9 footage for you tube on a mac

Start a 16:9 project. Import the 4:3 footage. You may have to scale it to fit. Either there'll be black space on the side or some image will but cropped
