Nice tutorial! I make recycled papers and card stocks for my crafting and I found that you don't have to rub the entire center of your negative space to make your embossing stand out/puff up. Especially with card sized embossing. Just make sure your edges are well rubbed. The center will naturally be raised with the edges and your embossing will look great. Bonus - no weird rub lines in your raised designs. You can also use paint stencils for embossing. Just be gentle with the ones cut from the thinner acetates. Also, as mentioned in the comments, you can get stylus with different sized ball tips for embossing. They are used in graphics, paper crafting, clay work, cake decorating and nail art, so you have a variety of sized ball tips to choose from.

I just want to say THANK YOU!!!!! I’m getting ready to start making my Christmas cards, and have watched at least 20 videos this morning alone, on ways to emboss by hand. Yours was BY FAR the most instructive, and easy to follow, out of all of them! To top it all off - it doesn’t require me to spend any extra money!!

This is awesome, I love to do this and a few tips: I used a mouse pad or craft foam underneath to get a nice gush to press the paper onto. And I like to use a bone folder, teflon is my favorite but a real bone tool works well too, I just don't like to use plastic because it can leave weird marks on the paper. With that said those tools will allow you to use regular paper/cardstock. Cheers!

To cut your stencil you may want to try just making the initial cut into the edge of the design with the exacto knife and then cut the rest of the design out with a small pair of manicure scizzors.

👍🏽 awesome. This is wonderful. Brass stencils I do have. However, I just might take a stab at making my own stencils for dry embossing. I have a few styluses, an exacto knife, a light box, and a self healing mat.

That's such a shame, because you are both such a skilled artist and gifted teacher.

Hi? I have tried but the result is not wonderful. I have tried with a watercolor paper and my tool is in wood. It seems so great on your video. Is it the paper that is not adapted? They have embossing stylus pens that do the same thing without leaving marks on the back of your work.

It appeared that the tree was centred on the final product. Registration is vital, so how did you manage to accurately do that?

Hello ! i just want to be sure before i actually do it and mess up my paper haha ! So you draw and cut out the design on the thick paper and then stick that on thick paper too and then start to emboss right ?

I want to emboss in gold or silver onto the face of a card. How am I gonna do that?

So don’t mean to be dumb but the strathmore is used to cut the design out and then place the strathmore stencil on the paper/card stock you are using to be embossed?
