Children are often more easier to communicate with than with fellow Adults.

Thank you - Thank you for all of your videos. My grandson has been diagnosed with Autism and Covid has prevented him from getting tested services up to this point but, we found you! Your teaching us so much about engaging him and helping him learn to verbalize. Wish you were in NC. Keep helping families like ours. You are making a difference. Appreciate YOU.

I lobe your joy and enthusiasm. My hubby and i are working on buislding our family in the next few years and one of the questions which i thought was a good question he asked me (I went to college originally as a communications major) was how do we or whats a good way to handle conversation with our kids when they are little in regards to what they want? His example was he didnt know "Sprite" as a kid so he asked for the "green drink" instead baffling his parents becauee sprite is clear but the packaging is green. How would you recommend navigating a conversation like this?

Hi. I love your educational videos. I started watching you after I took my son out of public school to homeschool. He took speech therapy at school but I was not seeing any improvement in his speech. I have tried myself to help him but I am lost and plus he doesn’t take me serious so he doesn’t put in much effort. Do you do speech therapy online with children? I was curious if I could hire you to be his speech teacher. Thanks in advance!

Hello, thank you for taking the time to post all of these tools for parents and SLP's. Question: Do you have any techniques on speech development for a 3yo child with a tracheostomy?

I don’t, it’s hard to say without seeing the child in person, each LO is different!

Hello, thank you for all your videos. They really help our son in a lot of ways. Just wondering is there any resources SLP working on comprehension for 10yrs old and up?

Check out some resources on TeacherspayTeachers.com! Look up “comprehension” & filter by “free” and whatever grace he’s in “5th?” Maybe? You should get some good resources to pop up!

Thank you for your video! I have a question about a child I work with. He is 4, currently nonverbal (or preverbal), and his primary means of interacting with items is to mouth them. He will show interest in items like play doh or kinetic sand, but immediately try to eat and swallow them. I want to honor his interest and not withhold these items, but I also don't want him to get sick. How do you recommend following his engagement when he wants to eat the item and shows little interest in other ways of engaging with it?

So the good news is.. mouthing is the first sign of play! So it is wonderful that he is beginning to explore. However, he might also be seeking sensory input, especially since he loves sand and play dough, so providing some oral input that is safe may help (a chewy toy/ring, which can be worn as a necklace or used independently during play). By providing this sensory input, it may open him up to observing / learning new things with the toys.

Thank you for your videos. I’m currently subscribed and I really learn a lot from your channel. It’s just that, if you could please speak a little slower if possible, I’m currently on my 2nd trimester pregnancy and I feel out of breath trying to catch up.. Thank you so much

He likes books only how can i play with him?
@xreamwolf

One way that I play with books with my speech delayed toddler is to "bring the book to life." Example: in any book with a car you can tap the car and go beep beep beep. Pet the animals on the page or make the sound of the animal. Make a popping sound as if popping a balloon. Do train sounds or another vehicle sound. Pretend to help roll the snowball. You can create a story with the pictures and add emotions to the animals and objects in the books where you shiver and say they are cold or you can give them different emotions. Pretend to feed the animals or people. I hope this gives you some ideas.
