When I first got my Cricut Maker 3, I was so excited about all the amazing things that only the Cricut maker could make. In my Cricut Maker series, my goal is to empower you to take full advantage of your Cricket Maker or Cricut Maker 3. By teaching you about all the tools and all the amazing things the Cricut Maker can do. In this video, I'm going to be focusing on how to engrave using your Cricut maker, which can engrave both in acrylic as well as thin and metal.

Better to use painter's tape to remove dust. You should also use alcohol wipe when your done. Keeps down the mess and looks much better.

P.S. You also won't have the dust left on your mat.

Yes, the Maker/ Maker 3 is the only machine that can handle those materials.

I’m COMPLETELY new to learning about all of this and don’t have a Cricut yet but looking to see what I need to get started with it. Does the Cricket Maker 3 machine come with a quick swap housing tool or is that separate?

The Cricut Maker does come with the QuickSwap Rotary Blade & Housing & Premium Fine Blade & Housing.

@@tonyalucz7226 the Maker 3 does not, at least not the one that comes without a kit. It’s compatible with it, but doesn’t come with one. I just received mine yesterday and it did not. The only thing the machine comes with is the fine point blade already installed in its blade housing, a scrap sheet of vinyl to do an initial test on an about 4 12”x12” sheets of various Smart Materials it try out. Nothing else came in my box, not even a marker or a mat like the original Maker comes with, but I purchased just the machine not in a kit and bought all my tools and supplies separately for it.

This is just a black piece of cardstock. I didn’t decide it, I just placed it on the same easel!

I have the Maker 3 with the Cricut engraver tool. I set up my project and secured my acrylic to my cutting mat. When I went to select the acrylic it showed the 2mm acrylic and the1mm acrylic, but they were not selectable. It said they were not compatible with my hardware. I spent hours trying to get it and I was ready to throw the maker on the floor. My firmware and software are both up to date. Any suggestions???

Make sure the operation is set to engrave for all your lines. That should fix the issue!

No, you will only be able to engrave flat metal blanks. You would have to use a laser to engrave a lighter, and I'm not sure how safe that would be so you would want to find out more information before trying that.

Hiii ! quick question, I just bought the cricut maker 3 because my cricut maker was not working anymore, I am having trouble with the engraving tool, my cricut maker 3 wont detect it, i already restarted both my laptop and my machine but it wont detect. Is there anything youd recommend ?

I would contact Cricut customer service in case it’s a faulty machine! Especially if your machine is new.

Foil won't stick to anything but cardstock unfortunately!

My Maker acrylic blank from michaels says 1.9in but when i load into my maker 3 it makes a horrible sound like its too thick??? Is there another adjustment i should be doing?

1.9 inches is way too thick for the Cricut Maker. If it’s makes a bad sound definitely stop and reevaluate. Unfortunately it coming from Michael’s doesn’t mean it’s going to be compatible with the Maker.

Hi Alex another youtuber had their engrave centered on the 6 inch cross hair in the middle of the mat and also 6 x 6 (in the middle) of design space. Hope this helps.

Here’s an idea maybe tell your viewers before the video starts that in order to engrave with the maker 3 you will need a special tool. Cause that was 15 minutes of my life wasted
