Have you ever wondered what happens if the battery of your car’s smart key gets empty?
How to open the car and how to start it?
A couple of months ago I locked the car and went out for a walk. When I came back, the battery of the key fob was empty and I couldn’t get in the car.
I borrowed a battery from a stranger, started the car, and returned him the battery. Then I bought myself new batteries from the first gas station.
Later I found out that there is a much easier way.
In this video, I will show you how to get in the car and start it with an empty key fob.
To demonstrate that this trick really works, I will remove the battery from the key fob.
Alright, it’s nothing to worry about. Although I don’t have the access to this car, it still belongs to me.
However, you need to be prepared for the alarm because when you unlock the car manually, the alarm is still on.
Here comes the fun part. When I press the "Start" button, the car says that there is no key.
But there is a chip inside the key and if you put the empty key very close to the “Start/Stop” button, the car will recognize it.
There it is, the alarm is off.
Different cars have different backup methods. The method I just showed you is the most common one.
If it doesn’t work, check it out from the owner’s manual.
Now, to start the car, do the same.
That’s it! No need to call the locksmith or brake the window.
