How to enter hidden menu in BMW Z4 (E85 E86) & X3 (E83) service test mode instrument cluster

Instrument cluster hidden menu in BMW Z4 (E85, E86) and BMW X3 (E83) cars gives you access to service tests and live data from engine. Those information will be helpful while diagnosing engine or electrical systems faults.
Perform needle sweep, check fuel level, engine revs, coolant temperature, fuel consumption and more.

hello, if the car has not got an on-board computer can you check with this method the fuel economy? if yes, how? it is an E83 NFL. thank you very much

No. This menu will not clear any diagnostic codes from SRS in your car.

Check of you font have any warning messages like low fuel, broken bulb...

That’s funny, my model has a “check gas cap“ light under the fuel gauge either yours is out or your car doesn’t have that. I guess it’s not a real BMW if it’s not lit up like a Christmas tree lol I love my Z4 tho thanks for the video cheers!!

is your Z4 a facelift model? The facelift cluster also has a "door open" light which the pre-facelift in this video doesn't have.

I did some more research and your car has that "check gas cap" light because it's the US model. The European model doesn't have it.

1. Use diagnostic scanner to read fault codes. 2. Fix whatever is broken or needs to be replaced. 3. Use diagnostic scanner to clear fault codes.

A small red light will appear next to the mileage if it has been tampered with.

I have a 2003 z4 automatic with shifter paddles it wont go in to gear what could it be

Did the shifters work before? Might not be communicating with the gear box or something. Could be as simple as a fuse or a new plug or something. Had similar in my dsg vw

Does L on test 19 mean low oil?

No. It means "LOCK". As in "Most test menus are locked".

You can change that display with with comp button on the end of the turn signal stalk

@@joshbreeze1865 My 2.5i doesn't have the BC button. If I buy a new turn signal stalk with the BC button, will it then toggle the info or would I have to flash program that feature?

instrument cluster diagnostics. also you can check some engine data (RPM, coolant temp.) that will help you diagnosing engine issues on the road when you don't have access to diagnostic interface.
