Man, 5 min ago I was inside a car washing tunnel and few moments before end of the program my toyota yaris did not want to start with the start button (no key sign blinking)!That was some record speed googling and finding your video with the firs hit. I did not know that holding the key near the Start button will do the trick. You saved my day, thank you.

This only helps you get inside not turn on the car. It won't work if fob doesn't have even an ounce of juice. There should be an alternate key ignition for emergencies really half assed design, they designed a keyhole for the door, but not the ignition!??

Rav4 2009 with smart key and "no detected key" issue and "engine start/stop" button. Unfortunately your advice didn't work for me, nevertheless the red led light still works when pressing. Not sure if it's a battery. Any ideas?

How many times can you start the car like that? My battery died yesterday and the first store I went to was out of the battery size I needed. So I had to drive to another store. I couldn't remember how to start the car when the battery died so my friend sat in the car while I went in to buy a battery. Just curious if this ever happens again and I am by myself and have difficulty finding the correct size battery.

My rav 4 wouldn't start this am because fob battery died.. I knew how to get in the car with the key in the fob but I wish I knew about holding the dead fob next to the start button before having to use my husband's rejected sticker, uninsured, windowless car to get to work at last minute! Lol
