Hey just a suggestion from a normie. I'm not sure how to do it but I would recommend putting one of those checkpoint things so people can see what part of the video you start getting into the eq-ing and the meat and potatoes. I use a lot of vocal samples so I found myself skipping past the first 3 minutes... hope that helps and that it didn't come across as harsh or critical. Thank you for your knowledge and advice, this helped a lot with a vocal sample I'm trying to EQ!

It might be 1k, unless it's 2k, then maybe it's 3k, but remember to check 4k, but don't forget 5k, because sometimes that sets off 6k, which really means that 7k needs to be balanced with 8k. Your mileage might vary. It might not work, though, and that's okay, because you're still a great producer! (Totally kidding, great video. Thanks! 😁)

Will have a look at your EQ pdf, thanks. Mid EQ's, like my understanding of Greek mythology, have always been my Achilles' elbow :)

thank you for this liked and subscribed How do you tell the artist to not be so nasal and re-record the take?
@theindiemusiclab
@theindiemusiclab Жыл бұрын
That’s the age old question lol. I don’t think there’s an umbrella answer for that unfortunately. The one thing I’ll say is be honest without being unnecessarily blunt. It’s a fine line, but if you position yourself as having the artists best interests at heart, they will usually respect you and your feedback.

If any one recorded vocal too close to mic..then how to fix this problem in mix
@theindiemusiclab
@theindiemusiclab Жыл бұрын
It’s hard to know without hearing the mix but it’s likely that a vocal recorded too close could use a cut or two in the low range between 100 & 500 hz.

What about harsh tinny metallic sounding vocals I don’t see much info for this
@theindiemusiclab
@theindiemusiclab Жыл бұрын
That’s a tough problem tbh. It’s one of those that you want to try hard to avoid by getting a good initial vocal take, however, if you’re trying to make the most of the take you have, I recommend cutting in the 2-8k area, and then try boosting it at 150-200hz. Adding a bit of saturation to the vocal can also help warm up the sound.
