Thanks for the video. But why can the phone not be preprogrammed to do this via a settings option, and cut out all the * and nrs, etc? Surely this is basic programming?

Yeah but it's not. It's the network that sets it. Which is bs imo. My Samsung is with aldi. Aldi use the telstra network. This fix is a telstra fix. Mine was at a long ring for months then one day it wasn't. Bloody telstra!

This worked for my Sony Android. I'm physically-disabled and an extra 15 seconds when my fingers decide to get the hippy-hippy shake (aka "involuntary movements" says my pain management consultant kindly ) the difference between getting that call and missing that call. Sometimes, little things make a big difference. Thanks for posting .

20 years ago there was setting under voicemail you could change the duration of rings before going to voicemail.

This is not an Android setting, but instead a network configuration setting. Depending on your phone network provider it can be a slightly different code or you might not be able to set this yourself and have to go via the help desk.

You're right. I followed the steps to set the ring time, after which unanswered calls do not go to the voicemail and just hang up. I tried to undo the setting by reset the network, but the problem persists. What should I do now?

@@Smiley-ps1yc Whilst I'd love to be one of those people who messes with scam callers for extended periods of time to help protect the more vulnerable members of our community from being scammed I unfortunately currently posses the time in my day to do that. So I let my phone ring all the way through when I get an international/ out of state phone unknown number (dw I google numbers after to see if it was important). But I do now get to listen to Zombie by Purple Kiss whilst I sit out unknown numbers. :)

The setting should be as simple as the other 199,999, and as a basic option. Samsung should get a letter on this.

The code depends on your carrier. For some reason mine didn't work on my Samsung A42 either way.

Yes it does. After dialling *#61#, I noted the last three digits of my carrier's code then replaced the 101 from the video with those digits.

Worked on my Samsung. Aldi provider, which uses the telstra network. And WTF it was set as 30 seconds previously, then one day in Dec 2022 it was shortened to 15 seconds and I missed all calls. It's fixed now. Ty xx

This put me in a worse situation than I was before. I set it for 30 and now my phone doesn't ring AT ALL - just goes straight into voicemail. And I can't even get it back to the way it was before, which wasn't ideal, but at least I knew a call was coming in!

Dial *#61# A phone number will appear in a window along with the current number of ringtone seconds. Write down the number. Then enter the following code: (In the sample below the 506 number is the one I use for Costa Rica, replace with yours. My default number of seconds was 15, I replaced it with the max of 30. Use increments of 5 seconds. Good luck

30 is max, but you might be able to turn the answer phone off so it rings longer. not sure, but worth a try.

This is upsetting. 30 seconds is not enough time to answer a phone lol unless it's in your hand at all times, which is a habit I don't want. I'm guessing that they made a 30 second max to prevent long ringing which can disturb others? I think I'm more upset because I found I song I really like but it's 40 seconds lol
