I heard this reaction doesn't only precipitate DNA. You will also get a variety of proteins mixed in. But, you can be sure that your DNA is part of those clumps of strands.

You may be able to isolate the DNA from the sample by using a kathode and anode, due to the negative charge of DNA it should separate itself from the protein clumps when put in a watery solution. Not sure about this tough, never tried it.

@@chungus816 of course, you are referring to a process called Electrophoresis. People also use it to separate DNA from other proteins (although, this is not the main use of electrophoresis).

Actually the soap is 1 part soap 2 parts water and about half a tablespoon of salt and it has to be cold

is it as effective with isopropyl alcohol? The results werent perfect but it resemebled your final product.
