Pyrite is a mineral that is formed from the precipitation of sulfur in iron and is known as FeS2.
There are different types of pyrite and different colors. There is also black pyrite. pyrite in
HNO3 dissolves but not gold. Therefore, if pyrite does not readily dissolve in HNO3, the probability of gold should be increased. Of course, apart from gold, there will be other metals such as titanium, copper, zinc, iron and tungsten in the pyrite mineral.
It depends on where you found the pyrite. If it is from a gold mine, it must have gold. One of the disturbing elements in the extraction of gold from pyrite is sulfur, which makes the work difficult. Therefore, you need to estimate the type of pyrite and the percentage of sulfur so that you don't have problems with calculations later. And I recommend not to use concentrated acid. I extracted 2.5 grams of gold for every 3.5 kilos of pyrite, which I discussed in the video. I hope my videos are useful for you.
