My incisors were both the same size, after my refinement, one of them is now shorter than the other, what could have led to this?

I had my bicuspid spaces reopened and in the process, my face stretched out. I'm trying to figure out what happened because my teeth don't look any longer, and I don't show any additional gumminess. Is this possible? Would you be able to give me your opinion if I sent some photos?

Hi Lissa - by 'stretched out face' do you mean like a 'longer face'? If so, this is how I can attempt to explain it without photos: if your bicuspid space has opened - then usually those teeth in front of that space move forward. The teeth behind the space might be moved back a bit more. If you move back teeth further back, it changes the geometry of mouth closure so you're going to be more 'open' or longer face.

@@protrusive yes that’s what happened, the back teeth were pushed backwards. Is the problem that the back teeth extruded? If I get the molars shaved slightly would that help?

@@protrusive if I have the entire thing reversed and bring my molars back will that fix it? Sorry for so many questions, really appreciate your help!

@@Elainek2809 it's actually difficult to explain (even do Dentists) - its not that the teeth are necessarily extruded, it's that they are meeting closer to the hinge (the temporomandibular joint). best to see your Dentist if this bothers you (usually not an issue though)

@@Elainek2809 If your situation could be reversed then yes, theoretically you would go back to how you were. I'm not looking to give anyone advice over the internet but that sounds like not such a great idea with respect to so many factors and risks of orthodontics/treatment - best to discuss with your dentist who has your best interest at heart.
