While you can Erase All Content & Settings at any time, this doesn't completely erase your iPhone, and you'll lose all your data if it's not backed up. There are also some additional steps if you plan to sell, trade-in, or give away your iPhone.
We'll walk you through the entire iPhone factory reset process step-by-step. By the end, it'll be as if you were taking your iPhone out of the box for the very first time!

The first thing to do when factory resetting an iPhone is to unpair your Apple Watch. This erases all content and settings on the Apple Watch and removes Activation Lock. Your iPhone saves a backup of your Apple Watch before it unpairs.
Next, back up your iPhone. This saves a copy of all of your information so you don't lose it when you perform the factory reset.

If you have an AppleCare plan and intend to sell, trade-in, or giveaway your iPhone, cancel your plan. Unfortunately, if you paid for your entire plan upfront, you need to contact Apple support, and there's no guarantee you'll get a refund. Then, log out of iCloud on your iPhone.
If you're switching to Android, de-register iMessage on your iPhone. You can do this on your iPhone, or visit Apple's web page: selfsolve.apple.com/deregiste...
Now, you're finally ready to factory reset your iPhone! The easiest way to do it is within the Settings app of your iPhone. However, you can also factory restore your iPhone using a computer, just keep in mind you'll have to turn off Find My iPhone if you do.

A question. If I have a new phone that I’ve been using for about a year and want to give someone my old phone. I wanna factory reset my old phone if I do that do I mess up anything on my new phone aka the one I’ve been using?

I may have to do this after installing 16.3 on my iPhone, all my iCloud stuff is fubar. I have been working with Apple and they logged in again and ran some reports for engineers. I get a call back today with their findings! Im not a happy camper that it appears 16.3 messed up my phone. At least they are interested and working with me!

Same problem. Couldn’t iCloud backup. It changed an app from 85 MB to 14 GB. YES 14 GB. It screwed up my mail, calendar etc. Spent days to set up and reboot. Not worth it.

Ipad email screen, remove annoying list of emails across bottom of screen can you see if we can delete this feature it is very annoying as I don’t need to “multitask” anymore now that I’m retired.

Guys first thank you for the videos, I did reset network settings only, I enable iMessage MMS everything is enable, but I cannot receive photos from google phone, I mean just the photos!???? I can receive messages, links, and everything but not pictures_.?…. I receive picture messages from other android, ,but not from the Google phone my friend had.😢😊😊😊 do you know what might be happening if you do-it would be helpful a lot for me !!!!! I have an iphone 13 that belonged to my mom. ALL i want to do is make it into a little gaming handheld. I have a Razer Kishi IOS controller ive never been able to use since ive only had Android devices. Do i need some kind of Apple ID/Icloud login in order to use it? Im not against setting up a login if necessary but would rather not. There's ZERO data on this phone i need. Basically just want it to play some simple games. I have several handhelds but this would be my first Apple gaming device.

Hi guys, great vid. Can I ask your advice on the photos app. I just transferred over from Android to new iPhone. 128gb 13. But my photos app has almost filled my phone. I have Google photos with a 2tb Google one pln. Can I delete them locally on the phone and still have them stay in Google?

That doesn't erase anything from your phone it just allows you to rewrite over your memory. What I do is reset the phone/pad, then set my camera to hydefinition point at the TV and video the screen until the memory is full and reset it again. You have to point it to at the TV because if it doesn't sense movement, it will stop recording. don't let the phone get too hot it doesn't take long

3:26 'you can always factory restore your iphone' was kinda confusing. googled and found... "Restoring iPhone will restore all, including the operating system and leave it as it came out of the box. You will lose your settings and data, but you can get those from restore back up. Restore backup mean that you restore your iPhone from an iTunes backup, or the backup you made by other iPhone backup tools before."

I just had to borrow my nieces iPhone 8 and I will say this. I will never get an iPhone. I mean you have to put in your bank account details just to finish your iTunes account. Otherwise you can't download any apps. I mean this is so stupid. I've never had an iPhone so I found this very bizarre. Only Apple.
