Hey there everyone, thanks for watching! In today's video I will be discussing how to factory reset a Cisco 2960 Switch. I was given this switch at work and thought it would be a great idea to go through the process with everyone on KZfaq. I'll be adding to the series by uploading other videos of interest; such as upgrading and backing up your devices.

Nice and plain discription. Thank you. Is there a way to download the existing IOS from the flash on the switch for a later restoring as a backup?

How did u access it? What version or of PUTTY did u download?? U missed to show that part!

Hello! I downloaded what was the latest version at the time on the following site here: www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/latest.html I used the 64 bit windows msi installer in the video. Hope that was helpful, stay tuned for more tutorials soon. Thanks for watching!

why take a long time in this model ?

Some models have more to boot, so it will take longer to boot up theses resources and features. It can also depend on the hardware itself, the amount of interfaces and special ones at that. Like 10G interface ports and having the ability to do POe can affect this. The amount of ports available, such as a 48 port switch will run tests to check for any failures between the interfaces and other hardware. A 24 port switch will take less than a 48 port switch with POe capability. The IOS version can have some affect due to size in file and features. Let's also not forget the amount of modules on the switch too. Some switches, might not have the best hardware to provide faster boot. I hope this helps, thanks for watching!!
