Then you should try medium length first. And if you are feeling brave, go for a short do!

***** No problem! I remember when I cut mine (to the chin) and when it started growing a bit, it would always dry super funky, so I would have to brush it into shape while it dried (because I hate using heat). Well, needless to say, a bob is not easy to hold without heat!!

Honestly I was too, my hair is so thick and curly but I had this urge to cut my hair short. One day I decided to go to the salon and cut my hair, for like a day or 2 you miss it. Than you realize how easy it is. You waste less product, takes less time to style your hair and plus you can wake up later because you don't put effort into your hair lol. You kind of realize it's just hair and going to grow back. Sorry for the ramble just though you would like to know

I'm with you! I have long long thick wavy asian course hair!! It's nuts! I do wanna try this since I don't have to curl my whole head!! It looks super fun!!

You can totally do it! Since the bottom half is braided and pinned back it actually keeps it from feeling really bulky and spending a million years pinning. I also recommend Asian bobby pins since they are stronger so you can use less of them. :)

My hair was a little past my butt and I cut it and donated it about a year ago. It was completely Virgin hair and it felt so good making a change! Even though I missed my long hair, it's growing back :)

Thank you so much for this! Every other tutorial requires you to have layers to do a faux bob. Is it possible not to curl the bottom half of your hair and only curl the tops when you're done braiding? Also: if you plan on donating your hair, they usually require virgin hair which means if you permed or colored your hair, you can't donate it.

It doesn't seem like this can work unless you have layers that make the front pieces of hair short enough to not need anything done to them to make them much shorter? Can someone confirm? I'm trying it and having trouble for this reason

Before you donate you can't have dyed or bleached hair and your hair has to be 8 inches or longer. Sorry for those who had their hearts set on donating.
