With our food supply secure, we also start farming trees for our first caving expedition!

Knowing that 90% of your viewers have probably been playing minecraft for years, seeing you literally explain the simplest things in the most genuine way is extremely heartwarming. Your attention to detail is impeccable and the way you explain the long term reason as to why you are starting things on day one is something a lot of people don't truly know the value of. PIx you are one of a kind and I am proud to be one of your subs and followers.

Frugal tip: when constrained for resources like iron, don't let the tool break and instead make a new one. Use the new one about halfway then combine them both in a crafting table or grindstone. It will combine durability and give you a 10% bonus on restored durability (12 blocks for iron).

I like the new structure of the survival guide. It feels more like a tutorial than a let's play this way and I think that's for the better. At some point this series will finish teaching about the mechanics and teach about building. I hope that when this comes we will get some good building advice. Like how to decorate a wall without it looking too busy or too bland since I keep struggling with that.

I love the new format; having the "tutorial" section at the beginning for those needing the immediate help/tips (especially later in the series when people might be jumping around videos for specific reference), and then flipping to a "theory" section for those who want something more in-depth or alternate concepts. It's very thoughtful.

I'm really liking how slow and simple he's taking this new series. It's much closer to the way a lot of newer or more casual players would approach things, from the actually starter house, to putting your first farm wherever you find water, to the tiny animal pens and the "tree farm" that's just plonking down a few saplings. Plus I think the new structure of tutorial, ad break, more in-depth gameplay is working out well!

About food: very early on, a good source of food is fish (the mobs) in rivers. If I'm not mistaken they respawn much faster and in my experience they're just easy to get your hands on. Campfires are also pretty useful if you want to save on fuel a bit.

I'm doing a similar thing, just playing on bedrock which leads to the same terrain generation, but a different arrangement of structures. For example, there is a village built around the ravine river past the small snowcapped area just east of where Pix is at. I'm not engaging with the villagers until he does, but the ready farms around did give me a decent headstart on this episode.

It's worth noting, especially for new players, that cows can also drop leather, which can be used to make leather armor and books. The leather armor will be particularly useful as wearing leather boots will allow the player to safely walk over powdered snow. That presents an alternative to the dangers of caving for iron ore; the heights of the mountains will be more accessible and iron ore can be more safely obtained from them than caves.

The first one was for me to know a little more. the second for me to enjoy his content. I am very happy to see this new season happen cause I missed season 2. The only negative thing I have to say is that he is now making his survival guides like the modern youtuber video is; Very fast paced. There's not much time for beginner minecrafters to understand how to do things without a full understanding. I am definitely not saying he's doing it poorly. It's just wayyyy faster than his previous series.

I just bought the game a few months ago after being begged for years. You’ve helped me SO much with this game I’m now obsessed with. 😂 Thank you!

One additional tip I would advise when farming sheep is not placing a chest directly next to the pen. If you are in or near a biome where wolves spawn, they will pathfind over the chest into the pen and kill all your sheep. Then you'll have a wolf pen instead of a sheep pen 😜. This has happened to me in the past, so I'm rather paranoid about leaving chests or blocks too close to my sheep pens.

Some things worth noting that I came across while playing along today, is that pigs also like beetroots and rain may be of no concern to you, but thunderstorms very much are. During thunderstorms monsters can spawn, even in the middle of the day and rain can subtly transition into a thunderstorm which allows mobs to catch you completely off guard. That nearly happened to me today, being lucky enough to spot the straight up army of various monsters marching over a nearby hill before they could attack, getting away with just a jumpscare. Edit: I somehow forgot to mention the tip for dealing with a thunderstorm, which is that you can go to sleep when it happens, regardless of the time of day. So whenever there are decidedly too many mobs outside to be explainable by caves or other dark areas, the safest option is to just take a quick nap, either in your home if it's close enough or, as THE bchat said in this comment's replies, to have a travel bed handy for emergency situations such as this. The latter option will reset your spawnpoint, so be extra careful after taking it.

Thunderstorms don't always start with lightning strikes, either. I always have a bed with me, so when it starts raining, I check to see if I can go to sleep, just in case it's a thunderstorm. The only time I really get caught off-guard is if I'm in the middle of a large desert, where it doesn't rain, but hostile mobs can still spawn during a thunderstorm in the daytime.
