Ya fishes won't be harmed much but again depends on how well you bury the fertiliser but also fishes seem more advantageous in a waterlily pot than a lotus one cause lotus has a lot of algae growing too and the leaves sprouting and continuous growth of tuber only gives less space for fishes as time passes but there is nothing wrong experimenting cause anyways fertiliser won't harm at all if you bury it well

You just fill the tub with fresh water until the old water starts flowing out. And home made kitchen waste compost works wonders only if it is completely decomposed or else it rots the tubers
