It's the beginning of 2024, which means tax season is right around the corner. What I hate even more than paying my taxes, is having to pay to file them. We all want to know how to file taxes for free. The good news is that if you make less than $79,000 AGI (adjusted gross income) then you may be eligible to file completely free with the IRS Free File program. This includes popular tax filing programs like: TaxSlayer, Free Tax USA, TaxAct, and more! Even if the programs offered through the free guided preparation aren't to your liking or if your income is above the threshold, you can still file for free with the IRS Free Fillable Forms and efile from your home!

There are actually 8 tax prep programs partnered with the IRS! While filming the video there was a glitch on the website which resulted in only four showing up, sorry for any confusion.

My W2 They said they can't do anything about it working at McDonald's for 2 years made around 17k I should be getting a few grand back in taxes so I thought can I sue? My employer said they fixed it so I waited another year and same problem they took out no federal and I have proof over the 2 years no federal was taken out so I got no money in taxes and I won't ever be getting the money Im owed for taxes idk what to do

I used the Direct File with the IRS. It was great. I have 1 W2 and 2 1099INT. Took me 15 minutes (filled it out at work) and paid the 4 dollars I owed from my checking account. 10/10 recommend

Thank you! I filed, however, I ended up paying a small amount to file state taxes. It stated free on the tax software I used but the price was so much better than Turbo or any of those filing websites.

@@lauranatalybelalcazar7294 You go to the IRS site, and you get a choice of tools, and I chose the Free Tax USA tool. I ended up getting a refund for federal and state. Everything was done online for free. 😁

I think you just put all your W2 info in. They allow you to input multiple W2's. Once you are done with all your income and deductions, it should calculate your AGI and other values

Me and my partner each received a 1099 NEC form for our partnership which totaled 17,000 do we both claim 17000 or do we cut that in half when filing our taxes seperate

Since it sounds like you split expenses and revenue 50/50 then you would cut that amount in half when filing your individual taxes

choose a website to file taxes. sign up. upload your W-2 and let the website do the rest. it will usually cost at least $30 for your state filing. remember, youre doing state and federal taxes at once

I did TaxAct last year and it was free. But now this year suddenly they require me to upgrade to Deluxe and pay $30 just because I have an HSA. (Which I also had last year) I'm so tired of being lied to. :'(

Hi Brad, I'm trying to file a joint tax return and following your steps here but I'm stuck on the first page under "For a free state tax return, select your state", it seemed like there no option for Florida. We've recently moved from Georgia now we live in Florida. Should we select Georgia? My first time filing online please give me some advice. Thx❤

There is no state tax in Florida. Just federal.

All numbers are transparently displayed 2: Employers face Federal prison for not sending appropriate tax documentation via certified mail. 3: A three way digital authentication system between workers, employers, and the IRS. 4: Forgiving payment plans for tax payers to pay their tax burden. 5: Peoples and organizations with incomes greater than $300,000.00 USD paying larger tax burdens.

It will depend on how much money you made, but the general rule is yes. Look at the Form 1040 General Instructions to see exactly if you need to file or not

Hello, my parents filed their married jointly taxes, and they owe a balance to the IRS. They were told they could see and pay the balance online. Since they filed married joint taxes as they have been for years, do they both have to make separate online IRS accounts from each other to see the balance they owe the IRS, or do they just have to create one online IRS account since they filed married joint taxes?

FreeTaxUSA is free to file regardless of your situation, CreditKarma was free last year but since Intuit bought it I’m not sure if that changed
