Nice one, Thanks. I just tried something people might be interested in, I have recently been using my follow focus on my DJI Ronin RSC2 to zoom in and out on my Tampon 28-70 and it works fantastic!!! Much better than having to hold the camera and zoom in or out while on a gimbal. It was always a hassle having to either turn off the gimbal or hold the camera while trying to zoom in or out. I am totally thrilled now shooting with my zoom lens and cannot believe I did not try this years ago...

@whoismatt I've never filmed a wedding before, but I've been thinking about getting started. How important is it to film the ceremony from start to finish rather than just capturing the vows and a few other clips? For capturing the ceremony, I was thinking about getting something with great autofocus like the a7 IV or even a camcorder like the Canon XA50 to place at the back of the venue and just walk away while I use one of my Micro Four Thirds cameras on a gimbal or handheld (with IBIS, of course) to capture close-up shots that look more cinematic. I'm just one person, so if I were to capture the whole event, I would need a camera to just walk away from and not have to babysit for autofocus. Is this necessary? If so, is the a7 IV a good candidate for that? I feel like I have two B cameras (Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II and Lumix G85) but no A camera for events. There's always the option of upgrading my G85 to a GH5 and getting the XLR adapter, but the video autofocus sucks on both of those cameras. The E-M1 Mark II has better autofocus but also a weak preamp and a 30-minute recording limit. I would probably want to use that one on the gimbal. The other option is to use my E-M1 Mark II as the A camera and use workarounds for its limitations, especially like an Atomos Ninja Inferno or Blackmagic Video Assist for unlimited recording and XLR input. What do you think?

Hello. I have a question: I am from a part of Europe where vows are not so popular, but i am trying to find a way to introduce them by telling the bride and groom to write them down on their phone and send to me and then i print them on a cute design and hand the envelopes to them in the wedding day. I am thinking its easier for them. My question is: Is it ok if the bride reads what the groom wrote to her and vice versa?....their are not like vows per sey but kind of love letters ...perhaps ...

I am curious. After the teepee(5:30) shot you come to the building shooting 4k30 f3.2 and ISO800. She is shooting same angle and 4k30, f8 and ISO 640. And there are a few other example of big exposure setting differences. I understand you want to "" blow out the shot because of Slog3 but that is a huge difference in two cameras. Have I missed something? Thanks, I will wait to be amazed. You have taught me so much as I began my journey to Sony.
@whoismatt

The aperture difference is probably due to different shutter speeds. Also, Rachel Oftentimes films stopped down because a long lens even at F8 provides a lot of Bokeh

I was wondering. do you think you could film an entire wedding with a Sony Aiii and just a Sony 16-35mm 2.8? The reason i ask is because its a very good wide lens, Good in low light, but if you flip to Crop mode now your 24-50-55mm F2.8. Do you also record sound on board the camera from a rode mic. or do you plug that into like a H4N or H1?

I’m a fuji shooter, but for sure, that range would totally be ok to shoot a wedding. You got this!

@@JifferRiffic haha nice! I have contemplated the a7iv, but I couldn’t step away and snagged up an xt4 for this coming wedding season. Sony’s are great though. I’m sure you’ll love it!

Yeah, but I don’t think those focal lengths are that cinematic. I personally prefer the longer focal lengths.

No. Tight, close up shots are must . And you can’t always be in everyone’s face. Also. That won’t be 2.8 anymore once you are in crop mode . It will be more like an f4

1. You seem to shoot wide open most of the time. Are you using VNDs? Or do you crank shutter speed? 2. I have the a7siii and riii. I want to ditch the r3 for the IV I’m thinking. I shoot both photos and video for work. How much worse is the LCD screen res, and viewfinder res than the a7siii? This, and the 1.5 4k 60 crop factor are my 2 biggest anxieties about pulling the trigger. 3. What scenarios do you use MF during a wedding? Thanks Matt!

Crank shutter. Didn’t notice a difference between the screens. Mf for anything where I don’t want focus wandering

@@whoismatt thanks for the reply. Nobody cares about the lack of motion blur? I don’t use them either- but was considering buying VND. I don’t want to though if unnecessary! So would you recommend buying the IV as a B cam (or A?!) to my a7siii?

Waooo, thanks to share this interesting video. I have a question please: I'd like to vuy Sony A7 IV with basic zoom and I need a suggestion from you. I make documentaries around the world and travel alone. So the 2 most important options for me are the low weight and stability of the camera. I only shoot handheld and unfortunately this camera is not very stable like a Panasonic. What could I buy to slightly improve stability? I don't need a gimbal. I had it and sold it. I need something much simpler, smaller and lighter. What exactly do you recommend to buy? Do you advise me to swap Sony for another camera? I don't create panoramas. I only film the traditions of indigenous peoples in remote areas. Please, recommend a trick or something small to be able to better balance the shots so as not to get the blur. Thanks
