Varre is the first NPC you encounter in the game at The First Step site of grace. Finishing his questline requires online play, as you have to successfully invade 3 times. You don't have to kill your opponent, you just have to get into their worlds with a successful invasion. After you complete his questline, he'll give you an item that teleports you to Mohgwyn Dynasty. You can do this all before reaching the capital, as the questline ends in Liurnia.

As a few others have said you don't need the medallion to get there. You receive the item to teleport straight there after completing the side quest of 3 invasions and dying the cloth in maidens blood.

So to sum up, memorize all his move sets in each of his phases, dodge and hold shield up at the exact right times to avoid getting hit, in other words, git gud.

i totally missed mohg and fought him when i was totally over leveled. he still was not very easy. i cannot imagine how to kill that boss at lower levels. its a beast.

Fun fact! Right at that first point of Grace (19:00) when you enter Mohgwyn just over the cliff on the left side is a big bird, you can shoot at it and run back, it falls off the cliff and free 13k points. Happy rune farming!

10/10 guide. I was stuck on him for 2 days searching up how to beat him as pure melee, then I stumbled upon this video. Your advice to stay close to him and dodge through his bloodflame claw was all I needed, didn’t know you were supposed to dodge though that thing. Ez dub in a couple of tries

There's a much easier way to get to him if you do the "varre white masks" questline. After completing some of his mission's he'll give you the "pureblood knight's medal" and it will transport you to Mohgwyn.

Hey y’all you don’t need to do the giant quest to get to the boss, if you find the dude who you talked to at the very start of the game, right out of the tutorial gate, in Liurnia he’s got a small quest and gives you a medallion to teleport there. It’s a really easy and quick way to get there instead of the more long winded albinurac way.

if you progress the quest of the beginning white mask guy , which will be located in the church bottom of the academy (Rose church? idk the name in English). He will give you an item to teleport straight to the map of the palace.

I didn’t do any of the actual quest, I just found his teleport by accident and made my way to him without knowing

he is the hardest boss up to this point in my opinion. I've been trying for 2 hours and its is the most one hit or no damage deaths i've had. I get to phase 2 rarely and immediately die. U are a legend to be able to make this look so easy.

You can get there pretty early (after killing godrick) if you follow Varré's Quest. Just wondering because you said its not possible to get there before Leyndell? I understand you said its to do Yura's quest and kill Mohg without getting shredded. Anyway love your vids and guides keep it up :)

Hopefully a Malenia guide will be coming soon, I’ve been stuck on that boss for a few days now. Her lifesteal + flurry attack in phase 1 is so hard for a melee build. Her phase 2 dive bomb one shots are insane as well

Few tips not given here. For second phase. (If you doing this very low level as i did without shield) When he plunges his pitchfork down, you want to dodge roll the explosion into Mohg, there is a timing & its not too bad. Basically as the trident is blowing up, roll into him then get 2 swings or so off. *When he is going to ram you with his spinning trident, diagonally aim for him armpit. You want to go under his weapon arm(behind him), its very forgiving & the timing can be off. Start your first roll early if your worried, then just hit another. Finally, as he is is sweeping his fork side to side, if your moveing towards one side of the platform, as soon as you dodge his flaming sweep, change direction. If you keeping moving the same way you will eventually walk over his flames. Even if fire resistance is high, blood loss build up at the wrong moment means death.

Tbh I love the mohg fight but I needed up having to use a spirit since my build was with a slow weapon so I repeatedly would get destroyed in phase 2

Thx for this, im tryn to beat him without cheese and hes prob killed me 100x. The hardest part is learning his 2nd phase attacks because im never in that phase long enough. And the big health regain is infuriating.

Dude, i blasted this boss so easily with the sword of flame and shield and with my mimic summon, hats off to you for killing him the old fashioned way. You're a master in your craft .

I figured there had to be some way around that blood aoe he does, but did not want to spoil anything by looking it up before beating him. I got here pretty early but managed to beat him by healing through it and getting the help of black knife Tiche. Awesome guide.

FYI i was very irritated because i couldn't get to that north side of the bridge as the bridge is broken and the drop is an instant kill. I wen to the second church of Marika and instead fought invader Elenora who gave me the tear.

Just a note you can still get the tear even if you didn't do all of Yura's quest, last time I talked to him was under that bridge ruin where you encounter the 1st dragon of the game. He still spawned on the Mountaintop of the Giants for me and when you exhaust his dialog the NPC in the second church will spawn and you can get the tear and weapon. If exhausting his dialog doesn't work the only other thing I can think is that you have to get to the consecrated grounds or haligtree. I haven't fought Melania yet, but I'm at the part just past Loretta.

You can just find elanora at the church anyway without doing that quest and she drops the item. Also you can just kill the samurai guy when you first meet him for the katana. You only miss out on the smithing stone 5.

Somehow at around 20 % hp he got stuck on those tombstones at teh right side ,so it was free hit for me on last part, lol. Was helpful since I was running low on flasks, also a message got appraised which healed me when I was getting hammered.

This fight took me literally 20 seconds, I just walked in summoned mimic and absolutely clapped the boss with a level 10 bloodhound's sword. No second phase pop because I slapped him into a stagger at 50 percent and just slapped him in the face till he died. Might be that I waited till after I'd already killed Malenia who by comparison makes every other boss look weak

got it in a few tries after i found the physick item. for anyone struggling, i realized that adula's moonblade does insane damage to him close range after i ran out of estus

You don’t really need to complete the quest you can just go to the second church of marika at the Altus plateau an npc invader will spawn and will drop the tear I can confirm this as I seem to have killed him at the Mountain tops

This was the last boss I fought on my playthrough, beat him easily on level 166 after dying dozens of times to malenia

I sailed through the midgame no problem I thought I had this game down.. Now the end game is absolutely dominating me and I'm not sure if I should respepc into a completely different build lol

Was probably bit too overleveled (120+) for this fight because I pummeled him down in less than 10 seconds while being shackled 😁 didn't know there was phase two lol

There is currently a way to cheese this boss by being able to jump into the arena without going through the door. It prevents his AI from working and you can just keep attacking him till he dies. You get all the rewards like normal. Only do this if you just hate the boss, but its Elden Ring, play how you want to!!!

Easier way (Step 6 requires you to be Online to do 3 invasions. Win or Lose doesn't matter.) Step 1) Talk to Varre. He's the one standing right there as soon as you walk out of the door to the Lands Between.. 2) (Optional) Talk to him again after gaining entry to Roundtable Hold to hear more dialogue 3) Beat Godrick the Grafted in Stormveil Castle (if you return to his original location, he will leave you a note saying to.... 4) Go to Rose Church in Liurnia of the Lakes. (Try to get the area map everytime ASAP...it makes things easier. Google the location 5) Talk to Varre, exhaust dialogue and say "Something Wasn't Right" when asked about the two fingers (won't lock you out of an roundtable stuff don't worry) 6) use the finger items he gives you to invade 3 times. They're the dark, menacing and bloody looking fingers of course lol. 7) Exhaust dialogue and receive white handkerchief. 8) Go to Church of inhibition nearby to wet the item in the blood of the dead maiden there. (There are multiple options for location this one is simple and close but you can also go to four belfries, get your likely first imbued key, open portal to "Church of Anticipation" look up which or check clues other two locatiins only have one talisman each. Then kill Grafted scion, Get his dual swords n shielf, get maiden blood, and then go through newly created door to get stormking ashes key item for Nepheli quest and Renowned Stormhawk ¿Deehne? Summon) 9) Talk to Varre, receive Blood Knight's Medallion (or similar name) 10) Use the Medallion and teleport right to the steps of the Mohgwyn Dynasty Mausoleum immediately. Step 11) (Mandatory) find the incredible great rune farming spot and PRAISE THE BIRD.

Out of all the bosses, Mohg and Malenia is the only few that scarred me, just for using Strength weapons

Just the purified crimson tear made all the difference, I didn’t use the Psysicks before so I never would have found out on my own thank you.

A high level 'mimic' summon made all the difference for me. Tried countless times over a few days and could get him to 40-50% health easily but that second half had me doing almost no damage at all and I ended up 'resorting' to using a summon for it, lol.

One phase w my blood build 😎 but I definitely couldn’t have done it without that shackle, so thanks so much bro!!!

You do not need to get the lift key to access this boss. If you do the two finger starting guy's pvp quest, you can run straight there.

I used a plus 10 mimic tear with bleeding/poison axes power stanced, royal remains armor, and my strongest seal. Cast blood flies over and over while the mimic fights him, jump in and power stance attack him when it’s a good opportunity. Trying to apply poison and help build bleed from the flies. Just make sure when he gets to phase 2 and heals up that you heal yourself before dying from the 3 siphon attacks that can’t be dodged or blocked

you can get to this boss even before Radhan, just do the NPC outside The First Step (forget the name) questline, the one where he needs you to invade another worlds three times, and soak a piece of cloth on the blood of a maiden. he will give you an item that teleports you to this area.

You can deff reach and kill mogh, lord of blood before you finish lyndel. If you progress through Varrés quest he gives you an item with witch you can teleport to the island once "You're worthy". Im unsure what triggers this, but i did it before even knowing about morgot

I got him outta there quick. I just used Rotten breath and my Mimic Ash plus the flask you help me get and I got him on my 4th try. I was surprised.

thank you for this video the fight description wasn’t gonna help me so what I ended up doing was using Azur’s comet with the infinite magic and a +10 mimic and with mohg’s shackle I ended up getting him down past 75% before the 2nd transformation and just used my healing when he was trying to one shot kill me with the stuff coming from above and just used Azurs comet again while my mimic distracted him. thank you for the description vid

You do not need to do Yura's quest to fight Eleonora and get her items. Just go to the Church as instructed in Yura's quest part 4 of the video and Eleonora will appear. Kill her and get all the items.

A simpler way to get ger here is to do vares questline and when completed he rewards you with the pureblood night medal and when you use it, it automatically takes you the place where you run up the stairs

@5:55 You skipped an important part, how did you make it to the other side of the bridge without dying from the fall???? You inconveniently edited that out.

Ng++ and remains to be the only boss that I can't kill competently yet. Only just discovered that you could use the physick and shackle to make this easier.

So you need a special optional tear flask or the boss does an impossible to avoid attack that will insta-kill you even if you have 70 vitality, got it.

Blood flies right as he starts entering the 2nd phase do wonders to his health due to the blood loss. Great video btw

You can also complete the quest from the very first guy you talk to when you start the game, by the first sight of Grace. You have to invade 3 times but it’s a pretty easy quest, and then you teleport right to mogh’s place

And the thing is you're the only one with the guide I look to find a better guide so I can see where they show you on the mat but you don't do that so this is definitely going to be a pain in the ass to follow

I found this boss one of the easiest, didn’t attempt him till level 123 which most likely is the reason, that phase shift though hits like a tank!

6:10 I think Yura is invading a bloody finger for his crimes. That’s why you’re helping him. The guy has bloody finger assassin or something written over him. So while yes you are invading..you’re doing it to fight a guilty party. Kinda how the blue sentinels work.

Actually you can reach this area before in the game, you have to complete an NPC quest (White Mask Varré) and get the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. Then just use it and it will teleport you right into this secret area. High level recommended

PSA: Do not kill the boss if you plan to get the White Mask that's good for blood builds. The NPC Invaders will no longer spawn in their area if Mohg dies

I definitely did not do Yura's questline. Might have to do his questline next playthrough

You can also reach the palace with an item Varre gives you. If you want to go earlier.

I'm on my second (no summons) playthrough and I don't remember Mohg being this tough since my Mimic Tear helped me take him down first time around. I pretty much mastered phase 1 but phase 2 is just insane and really easy for me to panic, make a mistake and get killed in all the chaos. Thanks for this guide!

You can get to Mohg by simply completing Varre's quest. It is quite short quest and can be done early on in Liurnia. Way before reaching the consecrated snowfield

There is an easier way if you do varre’s quest after you get blood on the cloth. Then he’ll give you an item which you can use to get to moghwyn palace where you’ll spawn at the broken structure and from there go left and follow that path then you’ll get to mogh

For the hard calculated moves of this boss you did try your best to explain it in details. I’m sad to say I still died and the tips you gave didn’t help me. I couldn’t use chackle on him when you said because he needed to be in a specific stance. And when he had rise up I couldn’t use the chackle on him, beca what you failed to say was I had to use it before he rose from his knee. Also his attacks is hard to judge but I find role before his attack does the tricks in him. Though you did a thoroughly detailed on his every attack move and for that I thank you for this video. Which it was more detailed onky

Took me maybe 4-5 hours to beat the Mohg the Omen. Beat the Lord of Blood on my first try. Main difference is Dung Eater level 10. That summon is practically a cheat code

i had all the materials/tools in my inventory but wasn't sure that the Simon's Quest Cryptic wave was going to be so real for this i only wanted to know how to avoid getting his Bloodloss BS mega damage half way fighting it on my second run through i did killed the first time not knowing all this like the devil the he his good video man, i know it takes a lot of work and process to put together a decent/informative video such this man and i say it again, the Legacy of Simon's Quest always lived strong in most of this FROM games got to love it
