It’s not the head. It’s the timing cover gasket. The timing cover has coolant running through it. Replace the gasket and you should be solid. I own a 88 Z24 cavalier with a 2.8l V6. That’s the 3.4 sfi same set up on that. So timing cover.

sometimes the simplest things go over our heads. Man why did it have to be instilled in our mind that you need to “seal” to pressurize when all you need is a little pressure to expose the leak and sealing isn’t necessarily necessary. Haha, man thanks for posting this 👍

Had an 03 Oldsmobile with this same exact engine, 217,000 miles, but it had an intake manifold leak and a head gasket issue, used some green fiber stop leak in both coolant and oil, was able to put over another 50,000 before it just wouldn’t compress any longer and she was too far gone. One of the best vehicles I ever had.

Dude what a smart idea . I was driving last night (99 Sentra GXE B14) & I smelled coolant & my engine was overheating fast. I parked it & opened the hood to hear a loud hissing. Also from under the intake manifold coolant leaking onto the exhaust causing it to burn & create steam. Shit looked like my car was smoking. I jus ran her home since I wasn’t too far & left her to park. I don’t know if I wanna tear the motor apart to fix the issue or just get a new motor altogether.
