Hey love you guys. I am classically trained physician. Its not arrogance. Its just that people don’t listen. It took me years to figure out I was treating my more psychological problems. I just cant get them to eat that. Workout. But i tell them every time the come in the room and some get really upset. But the few that listen i give nutrition advice and movement advice. I always recommend your podcast if they fell like they don’t understand. And u usually have them start anabolic. Times are changing and i hope medicine changes. And a big one insurance dose not cover prevention ugh it is so frustrating. They dont cover weight loss which causes 90% of the problems. But the we do want the best for our patients. Lol shit it not the money. Its just if a patient comes in and i telk them to eat better and they don’t leave with a pill they think i dont know what i am doing. Love you guy. I listen to all of your podcasts. I recommend you guys to almost all my pt.

I don’t think it’s arrogance. My Nurse Practitioner friend gets 20 minutes per patient. Insurance companies don’t give them the time.
@royoj9662 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s not arrogance. Try dealing with patients every day and you tell them to look and diet and exercise and 99% of them don’t listen, it’s way easier to give them a drug. The system doesn’t work but the solution is not to blame doctors for being arrogant. Some of them went into medicine to help people to just like Mind Pump did. A better integrated system would help both doctors and patients

Yeah, don’t kid yourself. I worked along side doctors for a while. We had a term for them. Well, most of them. AIG. Arrogance. Ignorance. Greed. Don’t think, for one second, they are significantly smarter than most other people. Again, I’m taking your average doctor. They are good at memorization and regurgitation. Patient comes in with X symptoms. Oh, that means the patient has X. That’s what the book says. Now I’ll give them these pills. I’m not saying they are the problem. Oh no. But they play their role. Everyone is to blame. Them. Insurance companies. Politicians. You and I for putting up with it all. Sad but true.

Finding the root cause is much harder and also requires a patient that is proactive. Most times people want relief or results instantly so treating symptoms is usually the first intervention. Identifying the root cause is usually forgotten or requires visiting multiple specialists or professionals. That now adds a cost factor. I agree with Sal and his example was good enough to support his statement.

Hello Mind Pump Team, I really appreciate you taking the time to pass down the knowledge you've gained through years of experience for anyone to access. I've been watching you for the past two weeks when I started to getting into fitness again. In the past I have only worked out in phases with much larger breaks from the gym, but was still active through everyday work and playing casual sports. Thanks to you this time I have a different outlook of practicing exercises and working on gaining strength instead of purely focus on bodybuilding for aesthetics. I have begun reaching my 1 gram of protein per lb. of body weight this week. I am already feeling the difference health wise, and it is transferring to my work outs.

So my brother and I getting dressed for school we run shirtless to the backyard to grab a shirt. That was in the 80's . When you guys talked about the squat position. We call it Asian Squat.. I am in my 40's and still can do it. Never stop doing it. lol

As a MD, I can tell you that here in Brazil we have almost the same issues. We do not learn in medical school how to search for root causes, only the most superficial issue that may causing symptoms. And then, treat those symptoms and maybe the most related cause. But not the root cause. And if you shift your mindset, as a doctor, your fellow colleagues begin to think that you are nuts. They think: how can something I eat for decades can be the source of my obesity!?? Yes, because there are so many obese and ill doctors nowadays. But nothing that an expensive diabetes shot can’t fix… so they think. And pharmaceutics are happy with the profits. Very very sad.

Prevalence of type 2 diabetes increased from 2.9% in vegans to 7.6% in nonvegetarians; the prevalence was intermediate in participants consuming lacto-ovo (3.2%), pesco (4.8%), or semi-vegetarian (6.1%) diets. Simple answer about symptoms and root causes; there is no money in treating the root cause. As a nurse and judging by things I have seen, the mantra seems to be treat them to get well enough to go home, but not well enough to not have to come back. It is truly sad. That and people just seem ultra-resistant to making lifestyle changes and that is taken advantage of by the pharmaceutical companies and healthcare.

Functional medicine is root cause based and not covered by insurance. This is a problem. I’m working toward my masters (Nurse Practitioner) and it’s unfortunate knowing I want to focus on root cause, but traditional medicine and insurance don’t support this for patients. We need change.

Our medical system is so warped, twisted, and asinine. Gotta love capitalistic corruption and the corporate greed we see in insurance companies. 🙄 Hopefully more and more people will start relying on healthy lifestyles and educating themselves to maintain better health. Also, hopefully the right people will come along and help fix this screwed up healthcare system. The American government should be embarrassed for a multitude of reasons, this failed system being one of them.

I know this does not apply but i would REALLY like to better understand if I should count incomplete protein as my daily total. In short, I am 155 pounds and I eat a total of about 190 to 200 grams of total protein. Only 150ish is from complete proteins and the rest from incomplete (PB2 mostly). My question is, am I really eating 200 grams of protein (1.3 per pound) or 150 (.9. Per pound of bodyweight)? I only trust a hamdful of people on KZfaq and there's just to much back and forth that I'm even more confused than when I started researching it.
@adammiller91792 жыл бұрын
They answer this question all the time. They say if you get the recommended amount of protein per day (up to 1 gram per lb of bodyweight), then it is much less important where it comes from. If you are on the lower side of protein intake, you should try for mostly animal source proteins. Since you eat way more protein than you have to, you don't need to concern yourself with complete vs incomplete.
@chrismabe56812 жыл бұрын
@@adammiller9179 Thank you! I've been watching them for a few months and had not heard this topic. All I hear is .8 - 1 gram per pound of bodyweight, but not whether incomplete proteins do/do not contribute towards that number. Much appreciated! I'd rather swap out some proteins and incorporate more carbs bc I struggle getting other macros with that much protein. Thanks again!

I don’t think it’s arrogance but it’s been a culture created over time that people want a quick fix and patients aren’t satisfied if they leave the doctors office without a prescription.
