The first question you should be asking yourself when looking to find truck drivers to dispatch is; what can you offer to them? If you give them as much value as possible, they will give you value in return whether it’s tomorrow or two years down the road.

I am under the belief that as a dispatcher works for an OO, it's the OO that takes care of his own mt, licensing, reporting, etc., etc. Why would an OO turn over the mt, etc. to a dispatcher? The dispatcher needs to know what the OO's truck's capacity is, etc. The dispatcher needs to find loads within the desires and needs of the OO - keep the OO rolling. The dispatcher, in my opinion, seeks to learn WHAT his OO wants, where he wants to run, etc.

No man. I’m a truck driver over 15 years. The thing about a dispatcher is that you are not the boss of a o/o. You work for the o/o. Everyone wants to be a dispatcher but what you don’t know is there are hundreds of dispatchers. You need to know what fsc, pickup/delivery, and many other things that will take to long to type up. If you want to use the load boards guess what there are thousands of people using the same load board. You can’t jump in this industry just because you want to work from home. It’s years of connections that you have to make. You might get a newbie driver that doesn’t know themselves about the buisness and will just lose out on thousands of dollars.

Im in the trucking business and its hard tl keep owner ops and dispatchers. Eventually owner ops will either leave and run under their own authority to save money and dispatchers eventually leave to start their own dispatching business or dispatch owner ops at 5% themselves . It's a constant revolving door. Good luck yall.

he wants to dispatch drivers ? The first question you drivers need to ask him is , “Does he have a cdl ?” . The second is , “has he ever driven a truck , In the winter and heavy nasty weather. If replies , “No” , hang up and lose his number quickly !

You don't need to drive a truck or own a CDL to dispatch. It is a benefit to own trucks and dispatches them yourself by learning the lanes, miles vs rate, and what state and cities not to go to so that your driver won't get stuck.

@@miochan6414 If you have never driven a truck , you don’t dispatch to me . When I call and say I’m in heavy fog and can’t see ten feet in front of me , I want you to fully understand from self experience as to why I’m shutting down. When I say I’m tired and I need to pull off and sleep, I want you to understand from experience that falling asleep at the wheel is a horrible situation. Yes when I call and state my issues, I expect you to fully comprehend what I’m saying. No driving experience, No dispatching to me , Period .

@@Mississippi4Clemson I know how it is to drive across all 48 states. I own two box trucks. I dont have a CDL. Many semi drivers think driving a box truck is a joke. But I dispatch my box trucks and both trucks go all over the 48 states making a over $20000 a month for each truck. My husband and I drove the trucks for 3 months before we hired drivers. We still have our regular jobs as well.

@@tfcromartie My dispatcher had over 30 yrs out here . He completely understands when I call with a complaint. Not only does he understand, He doesn’t bother me again and merely asks for a possible eta . There is no shipper or customer or freight or broker worth my life . And yes I’ve told them all at one point , I don’t work for them . Not that it would matter if I did . Reschedule .
