After digging through Goodwill's racks for an hour, I came away with a women's 100% wool Pendleton coat with no missing buttons, rips, or stains. It fit me perfectly, and I got it for six dollars!

I was so fortunate to he born in 1973. I had a great array of ladies (and men) around me with fantastic taste in clothing. I loved cloths and dressing up. Today, I am a very savvy vintage shopper and can put an outfit together like no other! I can see, feel, and smell vintage. I just simply finds Me.

I've been trying to buy natural fibers at thrift stores more and I'll literally just go along the sweaters just feeling them all. Last time I went I found a silk and cashmere cardigan and sweater set for $8 this way. You cant always be 100% positive by feel, but it narrows down the tag checking.

Yep, feel is another great way to find good quality. If you can develop an eye to spot the good quality fabrics, your shopping trip can go a lot faster too.

My first job was at Wilson's, Lakewood Mall, CA, 1980-something. Don't skip over red. There was a "tomato red" color that was very popular around 1981. Look at any heavy metal album cover from that period. I would also suggest paying attention to old movies, TV, album covers, videos, etc.

GREAT information even tho its 4 years later, and since the current fashion trends are 1970's to 1990's right now this video is relevant to people reselling or buying because its easy to mistke a lovely item that is actually RAYON thinking its actually polyester and newer. The other thing I find is that the nicer items have care instructions that are written and not necessarily the current standard care symbols and a lot of vintage items from those era's were also "dry clean"...so there's another label indication of how old a lot of the fake or vegan versions are actually washable. I appreciate the tips, especially on "union made", I just realized that whether its designer brands or not, some of the clothing that I am seeing recently after finding a "second label" were made for better Department stores that now don't exist anymore or if they do not on the scale the once dominated. Glad I ran accross your channel while researching my current vintage clothing for resale thanks for the information.

Country of manufacture can also help. European countries, USA, Canada, If a garment is made there, it is most probably vintage.

Anyone know about ambrozzio made in Italy? I have a white coat with what I believe to be 24k gold weaving but have nothing comes up online. I also have a full coat from original shearling.

Shawanda Howard Glad you liked and found this helpful! Good luck on your thrifting adventures, and it’s definitely the uniqueness and also the quality of pieces people love.

Oh, I strongly believe in the quality!! Example, the weight of denim was heavier when 501 jeans were made in the US. The way seams were finished was nicer. There was more skill and craft back in the day, not so mass produced.

Liked your video. I have a question: I have collected a lot of designer labels. Do you have an ideas on what to make with them to sell? Thanks.
@PracticalPip
@PracticalPip 9 ай бұрын
You want to make things using the actual labels? You can't really make something new and use a designer label or that could get you into trouble legally I think.

Would a union skirt in a super small size be worth picking up
@PracticalPip
@PracticalPip Жыл бұрын
It depends really on how the overall quality of the skirt is. Just because it's vintage, doesn't mean it's a good find. If it's union made, it just means it's very vintage, but doesn't necessarily mean I would buy it just because. If you love it, buy it if it's the right size.

Is it hard to sell vintage items that don’t have label??
@PracticalPip
@PracticalPip Жыл бұрын
Probably not, but you would have to just do a lot of research online to try to find clothing that looks identical, so you can get a pricing idea... just takes work on your end.

I found a cute vintage vest at the thrift store but it was too small for me which made me sad :(
@PracticalPip
@PracticalPip 9 ай бұрын
You can add fabric to the side seams of vests and make it bigger. Not too hard to do if you can cut a one inch piece of fabric to both side seams and have some sewing skills. Can make the vest at least 1-2 sizes bigger easily doing this.

And how about true vintage clothes but from China, would that be something to easily sell ?!
@PracticalPip
@PracticalPip Жыл бұрын
The only vintage clothing made in China would be anything from the 90's, which is still vintage, but not like true and older vintage that is extremely rare.

It is very hard and tiresome. I have found 5 new vintage dresses so far and all the dresses privé around $500-1000 dollars. My husband wonder why it takes me so long at the thrift store. I’m there atleast 7 hours at the least

Do you resell? Thrifting for vintage or fun pieces shouldn't feel like a chore. That is not much fun at all.
