Worked in Oct 2021 Great video, using the copy and pasted text method worked to display a product key in windows 8.1, however... Trying this on a fresh install of win 10 to upgrade from windows 8.1 didn't work using the same product key. I tried this on an all in one dell originally running windows 8.1, I attained the product key using method one in this video. Then trying a full fresh installation of windows 10, however it failed when entering the product key. Why? Update! From several hrs of research, I found that my Product Key is a Windows 8.1 Product Key and will not work from a fresh USB boot install of 10 unless you upgrade while running windows 8.1. You first have to do the "upgrade this PC now" option from the Windows Media Creation download Tool. Then once you update the OS to 10 you can then do a fresh boot install of Windows 10. It worked for me! :)

Thanks man. the servers on microsoft was either down or some bullshit. which didn't allow me to find my product key I paid for. Just upgraded my computer with parts and windows decided that this was abnormal. I swear I saved my receipt and screenshot of the key and misplaced it. 2nd method is a life saver.

So I couldnt find mine in command promt, I used the notepad method but it didnt give me the correct key. I even contacted Microsoft and they said it's not a real key? Im currently stuck on an unactivated version because my other harddrive (with active windows on it) wont give me the product key.
