Back when I was trying to get into art, this was something I'd ask myself all the time. So it's good to see someone talk about it.

Personally, I think you shouldnt rush your art-style, it’ll just come to you naturally
@Wingedcanvas
@Wingedcanvas Ай бұрын
I completely agree. Developing an art style is a journey, and rushing it might hinder the natural evolution of one's creativity. I believe in allowing the process to unfold organically, embracing each step along the way. It's all about enjoying the journey and letting your unique style emerge at its own pace.

I often have too many clashing art styles I like, although some look super similar to each other but I very often can’t pinpoint why I like the artworks and very few of them have any process photos or speed paints 💀 It doesn’t really help that I’m super slow at drawing and it takes me a really long time to finish an art piece(like multiple days or even weeks) because I have to be “in the zone” to actually get anything done if that makes sense but as soon as my flow gets interrupted I immediately get stuck and can’t pick up where I left off. It’s honestly really frustrating because I want to draw everyday but can’t cause getting into the flow of things just, well it just happens! Anyway sorry for rambling, I’ve been in an art rut lately (not the first time 💀) but the video was pretty good ^-^

My advice for you is to be simple with your descriptions of what you like! For example, I like the thick outlines, I like the pretty colours, or I like the poses! Then after you figure out the simple stuff, that's when you look in closer and figure out how to do that style! It takes time so don't worry if you don't get it right the first time c: And yeah, you don't need speedpaints or process photos, just the artwork itself c: It's all about your own interpretation! From you sharing, it sounds like you may have artblock! Maybe this can help you! kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g7h9e62lz9uwnnU.htmlsi=t9QVgnenqnAUlMM1 Wish you the best!! -Iggy

Has anyone ever had an idea for a story and then you are flipping through Netflix and see YOUR story? It’s not stolen, it’s similar. I think art is the same way. Your “style” can be similar to someone else’s style.

I usually find myself redrawing a simplified version of the gestures and figures of other artworks because I sometimes don't practice as much as I want or should. But I try to use what you outlined in this video cause I need a lot of practice on digital drawing and overall skills😅

I am going to keep this comment polite and cordial. There is nothing wrong with copying other people's art, just don't call it your own. Also, it is wise to have more than one artist to study & copy. I will give you an example: One of my favorite artists growing up was Bruce Timm, he was heavily influenced by Jack Kirby but there was others he was inspired by such as Alex Toth, Wally Wood Frank Franzetta and others that molded him into the artist he is known today. Study and copy from everybody. I hope that I did a good job explaining everything.

Sometime artist have kinda the same style, it happens, no one owns a art style but it's always good to try to get different artist and art styles and take bit that you like to put into your own work with your own twist

Hey I have a question, How would I make a character with more stretchy limbs that are less anatomical correct that can move in more cartoonish ways kind of like Fizzarolli from Helluva boss (mostly) or Spinel from Steven universe? They still have a sense of structure in how they move instead of being a walking flaccid noodle walking around. And even more so if I made character like that how would the main joints work if the whole structure of the arm is all in that grey flexible area? How would casual poses work if it’s not technically anatomically correct, would I have to change an entire artstyle to do this?
@Wingedcanvas
@Wingedcanvas 5 ай бұрын
You're definitely right that those characters have a sense of structure! Even though they have noodle arms, you can see that the proportions are still the same! The elbows still bend the upper and lower arms in equal parts, and the hands are still in something I like to call the pocket area! (The hands line up with where your pockets would be c: ) I also think you shouldn't over think it c: Fizzarolli is a denizen of hell, and Spinel is a living gem projecting a body, so it's totally fine if they're technically not anatomically correct! It's all about having that balance of anatomy and cartoony/stylized! It's up to you to decide which one you'd lean on more c: It won't be a big leap and I encourage you to always try cool stuff c: -Iggy

Nope, use this as an opportunity to develop your observational skills. By closely studying finished artwork, like we do with late Masters, you can still gain valuable insights into their techniques, use of colours, composition, and various other aspects of their style.
