Ever wondered how to finish cording ends so that you can add clasps? Here are two simple and easy methods I use - suitable for leather, suede, or cotton cording.
Materials:
20 gauge round wire
Cording (I use waxed black cotton cord: amzn.to/3eMqAIh )
Sharp Scissors
Super glue (optional)
Clasps/fasteners or your choice
Tools Used:
Chain Nose Pliers (I use Xuron tweezer nose: amzn.to/2qgGwOR And Wubbers chain nose: amzn.to/2Oexzxv )
Round Nose Pliers, (I use Wubbers: amzn.to/2rJlVD6 )
Flush Cutters, (I use Xuron Maxi Shear: amzn.to/2rLWcdf and Micro Shear: amzn.to/2qWbEmG )
Ruler: amzn.to/2DleG82

Jocelyn....As always I love your videos! I found that a tiny bit of gs hypo cement or leather cement secures the cording to itself in the first version and a tiny bit will secure the cording to the wire in the 2nd version making it tons easier for me to start wrapping. Just wanted to share for those of us elders whose fingers are not as dexterous as you younger folks😉🤗 I mainly use leather cording but I found it works with other cords as well😍

I too liked them both. The first one looks the easiest so I'm going to try it first. I do make the second one but learned to start the first wrap without holding the cord which was always difficult and sometimes caused me to scrap it and start again. You always make everything seem so easy....and usually it is easy the way you do it.

YOU ARE THE BEST. These are the simplest, easiest, & best ways to finish a cord I've seen. About the "friction point" on the first method - if the necklace isn't heavy, I doubt it will be a problem, altho u r right to point it out.

Ok have just tried the second one (wire loop) on an 8 strand kumihimo cord, and while it probably would have worked better if I had access to super glue, and not just spray adhesive, it does work for kumihimo. Will be using the other method on the other end of this cord and possibly both ends of the next one (although I may redo this end with super glue closer to finishing the project)
