I really appreciate the new beginner series, I have only been bass fishing 3 years, and it helps give me an insight on what I should be doing.

These how to videos are perfect. Needed these a year ago when I was picking fishing back up. Too many youtubers get too focused talking for like 10-15 minutes about every little detail that they never really get around to showing how to work it.

A good way to flatten the learning curve is to cast your lures into a swimming pool to observe their actions and how your manipulation affects those actions. 👍🏼

I’d love to have Megabass as a sponsor here on Lewis Smith lake. I fish a lot of finesse here and Megabass has some of the best finesse tackle in my opinion. My current set up is St Croix rods with a Lew’s spinning reels. Also a Daiwa spin reel on a Duckett rod. But really been eyeing the Megabass Orochi xx F3.5-70xxs shakyhead rods. The medium or medium light action w/ a fast tip would work great on those big Smith lake spots and Monday night wildcat tournaments.

👍Cast far! Watch your line. Roland Martin says,"Be a line watcher." Drag and twerk! Leave the hopping to when you are using other jigs like the Ned Rig.

Mr.Blaukat...you mentioned at the end of video about drag...you said that back reeling was the way to go...maybe you could do a video on back reeling for us that do not know that technique.
@shadygraves
@shadygraves 3 жыл бұрын
It is technique pioneered and employed mostly by TN smallmouth anglers. They back reel when a fish dives or surges, as opposed to relying on the reel's drag, since the line test is generally smaller, thus apt to break. This an extremely difficult thing to master!

Good video, but I do have a quick question Randy. Do you not work a texas rig the same way? I jiggle the rod tip that way alot as Im draggin a worm, craw, creature bait, etc. Not always but I just assumed everyone fished a texas rig that way at least sometimes. Am I wrong about this?
@shadygraves
@shadygraves 3 жыл бұрын
I like to fish a Charlie Brewer Spider Slider head instead of a ball shaped shakey head. The difference is the Slider head gives you a more DIAGONAL, swimming fall which is where most of your strikes occur IF you use the right size head. I prefer a ⅛oz, and I concentrate on the FALL, more than bottom contact. It takes some getting used to if you're used to feeling bottom with a TX rig, but once mastered, it's a dynamite technique that has produced a few 100+ (Coosa River Spotted) bass days for me.

what's everyone favorite heads? Flat bottom, Round? Keeper, Screwlock or no holder at all?
@shadygraves
@shadygraves 3 жыл бұрын
My favorite is a Charlie Brewer Spider Slider head ⅛oz. The key though, is to concentrate on the diagonal FALL, in addition to bottom contact, as this is where you'll get the majority of strikes. This is difficult for most beginners because they're trying to feel bottom. Give them a try on 6 or 8lb line.

What do you think catches more fish? A Shaky Head or a Drop Shot?
@JMohler

Think it depends on person. For me Shakey is far superior to a drop shot in every way. But I know others with skill that are incredible with a drop shot
