Micro worms for trout are one of the most underutilized and deadly techniques to catch trout on creeks, rivers, and streams. Using a fixed float system and small micro plastic worms fished on a jighead or on a small hook with a split shot can help you catch a lot more trout! In this video Marlin from Addicted Fishing is going to run you through the whole trout fishing rig and setup. Rod, reel, line, floats, worms and more! We hope this helps you catch more trout on your local river or stream. Thanks so much for watching our videos, we appreciate you!!

That was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen because it realistic. The majority of the videos you see on KZfaq is always people catching fish where the reality is sometimes you do everything you can and still don’t catch them. Huge thank you for being real, fishing is a challenge.

Mouse tails on a float have been a game changer for me. Just last year really started using them on an ultra light on creeks and shallow rivers. I dropped one getting it out of the package and a rainbow grabbed it right next to my foot.

@jackpotjoey8828

@@outdoorsanimalsandmusic3014 yes. Trout magnet makes an EZ float that works in faster water. But the worms/mouse tails are heavy enough to use with a 1/16oz jig and still get some casting distance and let it fall naturally in slower water and just pop it a few times like bass fishing and the trout love it

I know this is an older video, (I've slowly been going through your guys' playlist). What I appreciate is not only do you guys take the time to explain the setup clearly, but you guys don't push specific products on the viewers. I totally get bringing up your favorite stuff or your sponsors, but some channels are just one giant infomercial and make it sound like what they are using is the only way to be successful on the water.

Nice video. I'm heading up into the Victorian high country (south eastern Australia) this weekend to a fishing hut on a river full of stubborn rainbow and brown trout. I have used hard lures in the past but going to try some running sinkers with powerbait and corn in the pools, and some soft plastics (minnows, paddle tails and worms) in the run. Even picked up a nice spinner that looks like a rainbow minnow. Can't wait, and watching this vid has got me even more pumped!

First time viewer.. Im amazed at this heavy LARGE tackle you have chosen yet keep calling is small and light! 😳 A 6.6 rod and a 3000 reel & 20# braid!?!? I catch 10-15# Stripers and Blues on that in the ocean!! 💪🏼🤟🏽 I do like the braid lines and find them creeping i to my light tackle for streams. I like 4.10-5.2' ultra light rods with 100/1000 or smaller micro reels loaded with 2~4# lines. Maxima has been my choice for decades. One rig has 6# braid and works well. Love fishing these micro worms too. I fish them on a Aberdeen #8~10 hook. Hooked thru "collar" of the worm natural. For a float I use a cheater fly fishing "float" its adhesive foam in figure "8" that pinches line and sticks to itself. Informative video.

Ciao from Italy! Love this very helpful video of how you set up your fishing rig for trout. There are many slow and fast running rivers that have big trout and catfish and very large carp. I have a question Sir, can you use this same worm rig for trout in a lagoon that is approximately 4 -5 + feet deep in some parts, as there are some really big trout in this lagoon that are always jumping out of this beautiful blue and aqua green lagoon?? !!!

Many years ago I went to a seminar on steel head fishing. A friend and myself paid $75 for a roughly one hour class. I’m 67 years old. Some of the tackle was JUST evolving, we used 11.5 to 12+ foot Noodle rods, 2-6 lb test mono. We did well in Upstate New York Salmon River. I remember asking about using worms for bait, they wanted nothing to do with that. We used soft plastic egg imitations and skein sacks. Things have changed. I wish that I would have stuck to my trout experience. I could have thrown Al’s Goldfish or even small fluorescent plugs (Hot Shots) maybe even small inline Spinners like CP Swings or Swiss Swings. We didn’t think of Floats and Jigs. The point is DON’T BE AFRAID TO EXPERIMENT 😉👍🏻🎣 PS, The tackle manufacturers want you to buy lures that catch Anglers not necessarily fish. Believe me you can go with a BUNCH of Leland Trout Magnets and do VERY well for yourself. Check all of the local REGULATIONS and get a Fishing License. I can’t stand POACHERS, neither do a bunch of DEDICATED Anglers.

Another real world fishing video , we use a similar technique over here in the UK called long trotting , using up to 20 foot rods and center pin reels , although fixed spool reels are used for longer distance , if you search on long trotting , there should be videos of various ways of fishing the technique. Re the split shot , we have found it best to crimp it to the end of the leader first , then slide it up a few inches and then cut off the end bit of the leader , this reduces line damage when adjusting the shot .

When I’m not using feather or hair jigs and they are truck trout this is my go to method. When the streams open the last weekend in April I will be using this technique. The other guys will be using power bait and salmon eggs and have to re-bait after each nibble! Lol

5ft ultralight rod is all you need. Penn clash ultralight. Use 2 lb fluoro. Fish can see the braid.

Looks like a mouse tail when it's set up. Yes, deadly for trout but I like your idea of using the jig head over a traditional mouse tail. Going to try your way at my local lake.

Sometimes I would have a guy come knocking on my door selling cleaning detergent that you can buy at a Dollar store, He would price them a bit higher than the actual price. He would be all hyped up and demonstrate by using the product, then you tell him your not interested, but later you take a trip to the Dollar store and purchase the product for the actual price. 😁

The uni works great for small pound test. I've had lots of issues with it being hung up in the eyelets with heavier lb mono or floro

I use those exact worms. I put them on a size 6 hook and use my fly rod for a slow sink and spastic action when I twitch. I catch tons of trout doing that.

As far as rods go my go to is a 9 ft okuma kokanee casting rod with a kast king zephyr finesse baitcaster. It is basically just a downsized version of my standard steelhead set up and it really is a blast. Certainly not the most practical but in my opinion it is about the most fun way possible to catch a trout. One of the rivers not far from my home is full of 18 inch plus brown trout and on that set up it feels like hooking a pitbull!
