Is that the blue water bridge behind you?
@DomBogey94
@DomBogey94 4 жыл бұрын
So I just headed out to port huron by the bridge and gave it a shot, mainly just to see how the parking was then figured I would throw one in for a few minutes. I like the area! Here is the thing, I couldn't really tell if I was hitting bottom though, river fishing is completely new to me. I just casted it upstream, let it sink (until I think its bottom), then slowly jigged it as the current took it. I'll definitely have to play around with different colors, and stay longer next time. But do you have any tips for that heavy current as far as feeling bottom? Thanks.
@thefisherbrad
@thefisherbrad 4 жыл бұрын
Dom Bogey I use 1oz jigs, the heavier the jig and line are everything, I use only 10lb power pro braid when jigging because the diamater of the line is super thin so it will push your jig slower down the river with less drag. I also sometimes jig more sideways there if you could tell in my jigging video I made from shore that can help a lot depending on the day

@@thefisherbrad I was out there today man, first time, it was eay too damn windy and the current was nuts!! But I'll have to come back when it is more calm. I have never caught a walleye before but your videos are awesome and I want to catch my first one!
@thefisherbrad
@thefisherbrad 4 жыл бұрын
Dom Bogey the easiest method to catch them is the dead stick method! This summer most caught in one night was 56 walleye from 8:15 pm to 6 am lol we had 4 doubles on in the same night where two hit at the same time on the same rod! It can be a lot of fun but since I did it so much last year it kinda got boring to me so I’ve been mostly wade fishing lately

There’s quite a few things I haven’t shown in some of the videos so far, but depth is also a key I get most of my fish in 12-16 feet deep of water. Seems to be key to deadsticking anyhing deeper and the fish don’t seem to hit it

I know you said you had 40 lb main line but is that monofilament? Also what pound test do you run to your sinker from the three-way swivel?
@thefisherbrad
@thefisherbrad 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that is mono. Braided line will also work. I have used 80 lb braid before on those reels and still get fish. I use to run 40lb line from my three way to swivel but now I changed that to a 20 lb leader like to my lures. The 20 lb leader allows you to only lose your sinker if you get snagged up on bottom
