Hey thanks for the information. I never put much thought into fishing in my younger days, but now that I’m taking my own boys out on the canoe, it’s great to have this knowledge to share with them. Getting them to listen is a different story.

Could you give some tips on winter or early spring for when the water is still very cold ?

From Brian: consider using flies that imitate food sources that are available during the winter months. Leeches are a readily available food source as are freshwater shrimp, juvenile damselfly and dragonfly nymphs. Other patterns to consider would be those that imitate clumps of zooplankton. These are called blob patterns and you can find them at your local fly shop or go online and see how they are tied.

Where will be trout in summer? And will they be willing to feed as in the spring? Or in the summer will they come close to the drop off of the lakes? Thank you

I just fish the whole Lake. Apparently the chronomide fishers ripped all the weeds out if the bottom with there anchors. I'll stick to trolling a fly I get the biggest ones anyways.
