In this video you will see what modifications need to be made to the chassis of the W202 to fit the later 6 speed manual gearboxes from the W203 W211. In my case I am fitting a 716.654 into my W202 M104 turbo project.

Wish I saw this some months ago. I also installed a 716.654 with the exact shift mechanism in my W202 C250 Turbodiesel with compound turbo setup. I'm using my old automatic gearbox mount, but had to install spacer shims to lower the back of the gearbox a bit. I see now that the manual gearbox mount does actually mount lower than the automatic mount. I also had to shorten the bracket and shift rod like you did, but I think only by about 30 mm. A tip for you: fill the gearbox with a good quality automatic transmission fluid. I originally filled the gearbox with only 1.5 litres of the the prescribed manual gearbox oil (instead of 1.8 litres). These gearboxes are very notchy when cold (even when fully warmed up), especially from first to second gear. ATF has improved the shift feel a lot. I don't have the foam piece, though - I didn't see any reference in EPC.

Why 1.5 litre oil I also swaped the original 5 speed gearbox with 716.654 6 speed in my w202 c230k, but I put 1.8 litre of original mercedes oil not ATF and the gearbox is pretty smooth.

original W202 6 speed manual gearbox for M111-OM60X-others , p/n A2032608900, from S202 year 2000 only, so no need for painful modifications

Good to know! But i doubt they are as strong as the ones from later cdi models. So for high power builds i would still recommend 716.648/649 or 654.

Puh grade erst den Kanal entdeckt und sehe sehr interessante Videos. Ich persönlich fahre einen c208 2.3 mit evo und serienmäßigen 6-Gang. Ich habe gesehen, was es für ein Alarm war als CAE mit einen Shifter für das 6-Gang gebaut hat. Würde vieles vereinfachen, da einige Teile in der Kiste bleiben. Shop hat interessante Artikel und ist benötige etwas....

Thanks for sharing. I always thought of that, it is great to see it beeing done. I imagine the car became quieter and less Rpm´s on the engine. Can you tell us what is the best benefit you got out , say at 3000 RPM in sixth speed and what is the speed and consumption ? Thank you very much and Thank you

Hi, if you got a 15° lean, you used the wrong gearbox. Gearboxes of V engine are symmetrical, Gearboxes of R engines have a lean, so you cant mix them.

@@cam_fras4605 IF you haven't figured it out yet. you can use microsquirt/megasquirt and run it parallel with your ecu and trans will still work, but once you go manual trans, you can rip your oem ecu apart

No the bellhousing is different, You can Use the gearbox from om611 om612 m111

Did you also swap to another flywheel? The sprinter flywheel has 60-2 teeth trigger signal. Older Engines might still use 2 teeth trigger signal. You need to check what kind of signal your ECU uses before swapping flywheel

@@whatyoumean3383 depends on your longterm goals. I have same situation right now. I will use dual mass flywheel with 2 theeth signal to make a manual 6-speed conversion on my c200. Later i will switch to 230k engine and use stand alone ecu. Then i can use sprinter smf
