Welcome to my KZfaq channel. This channel is the home for all your vintage Mid-Year Corvette content. In todays video I show you how I installed a new roof skin on the 67 Camaro. If you don't remember where this car came from check out my last few videos. This car received a lot of heavy metal work. This is the last video where I am doing major reconstructive surgery on the car. The roof skin was much easier to install than the quarter panel. I didn't have to get too creative with the roof. It just required some trimming and a lot of clamps.
I just finished restoring a 1963 Corvette Split Window and I am starting another split window build but this time its a race car build. I will be making videos every Friday. I will be making videos on my 1963 Corvette Split Window, my dad's 1965 Corvette, my race car split window build, my friends 1960 Corvette, and other projects that I find along the way. Let me know what you think about the video. Enjoy!!
If you are interested in an official MYM hat or if you have any questions please send me an email to midyearmitch@gmail.com.
Check out my Instagram for some behind the scenes pics of my builds.

Unbelievable how much fitting and measurements that need to be done. Couldn't imagine welding things up only to find things are way off. No doubt better than factor now.

It takes a lot of testing to get panels to fit right. I like to take my time to get them to fit. It would be a nightmare to weld it and realize it’s off. That’s not a good place to be lol.

Hey thanks Pat! I don’t know why either haha. That would be pretty cool to get to that point. I was excited to get to 1k and I can’t wait for 10k. We will see where it goes from there!

It must be a AMD roof skin. I had the same fitment problem on the right front. I glued mine along the gutter and used about two dozen vise-grip C clamps to hold it. I don't have a spot welder, and the nozzle on my welder won't fit in that gap. Good job, but you should have put some dynamat on the underside while it's easy to access.

Yeah it was an AMD panel. It didn’t take much to make it fit. It’s a great panel I really enjoyed installing it. It takes some work but it came around. I could have installed some but I didn’t want it to interfere with the roof skin fitting and hitting the roof structure. It won’t take much effort to install it later.

Another great video! Thanks for the demonstration, and your chain and pulley system is a time and back saver. We always tell you to be safe, it shows that you are. It's always nice to put away tools for another time, a certain amount of pride for a job well done. The Camaro is starting to look happy again. And a huge thanks for the short video of the much missed Misfit. I went back and watched the full video. Can't wait to see some C2 action. Have fun and be safe.

Thanks for watching Jim. The chain hoist is key. I’ve used that thing so much. The C2 videos will be coming in strong. The Misfit heart will be brought back with Overkill it’s going to be better this time around.

Hey there Mitch, We have a roof! Yay. The spot welder rig works pretty slick. I would think you can get thin tips to get into tight areas ... maybe? Looks like the roof skin was well made. You didn't have to do too much trimming. What is the closing song on your videos? I love the banjo tune. Take care, Dan

Hey Dan! I raised the roof! They do sell other tips to get into different areas. I just didn’t have any. So I did some modifications. They also wear down as you use them so they all kind of need massaging. I didn’t have to do much trimming to make the roof fit. That made me feel good to let me know everything was where it was supposed to be. That tune is called “testing my new banjo” or something like that. I found it on KZfaq and it’s very catchy.

You do nice work, I have been really reluctant to buy a spot welder like that, even the 220 one seems like it wouldn’t be comparable to the giant one they used from the factory but maybe technology has come a long way since then. Nice job 👍

Thanks I appreciate it. It does a good job for what it is. It’s all about prep and technique. You have to pay attention to your combined metal thickness. Resistance welders are simple. You can even make one from a microwave transformer.
