In this video, i show you how to fit snow chains on your 4WD with some helpful tips and tricks.
Snow chains are important, but it's even more important that you know how to fit snow chains on the tyres of your 4WD when the snow is getting too deep.
If you are buying your first set of snow chains, i strongly advise that you practice how to fit your snow chains on your 4WD tyres a few times at home before you try to put your snow chains on in sub zero conditions.
You need to be comfortable in fitting your snow chains, when the time is needed and without any guessing how to fit them.
Once you have put your snow chains on, make sure you check them for tension once you have driven a few hundred meters down the track or road.

Great content you put out mate I just subbed to your channel I've been binge watching your videos for about 2 weeks now, I've been interested in the Victorian high country for a while now so I'm glad I've bumped into this channel, I will be asking a few questions later as I follow your page, questions on where is a good camp site for snow coverage and stuff like like that and when is a good time to head down, I seen on google there is a resort and stuff there for winter activities for kids(and also if any the areas are close to the ned kelly museum in glenrowan. Any info would be great, keep up the content mate cheers. P.S I'm from Cape York so I have no idea about the beautiful Victorian high country haha 👍

Great video! One question for you Tim - assuming you have a single pair of chains, do you favor putting them on the front or the back? I see you demonstrated putting them on the front, but it seems most people put them on the back axle to ensure they have plenty of clearance inside the wheel well, less resistance when steering, and if they happen to be in 2WD, the chains would be on the axle with power. What are your thoughts?
@timbates4wdadventures
@timbates4wdadventures Жыл бұрын
Gday mate, Yes, I only fit one set of chains, fitting up all 4 tyres isn’t needed unless you might be doing some seriously deep snow driving. I have fitted my chains to both ends. Most people will fit them to the front tyres, to add traction with steering. Which is what I do pretty every time I fit them. Hope that answers your questions. Thanks mate for your feedback. Cheers Tim
