Instead of cutting your bar off just heat up the center of the bar with your cutting torch with the pads on the floor and the front wheels off the ground. That's how I do it whenever mine get out of alignment.
@richardniswander6090 Жыл бұрын
Dont cut welds just cut bar.weld back together after you line back up , lay a piece of angle iron over the pipe weld on both ends.
@khtractors Жыл бұрын
That makes a sloppy look. This way everything still looked factory.
@briandantz48999 күн бұрын
Mine did the same thing. Do this instead for a quick remediation without any cutting or welding. Curl the QA all the way back.... chain the " less curled" back to the large pipe on the loader so it cannot curl out. Using your hydraulics, curl out... the side you restrained will stay put. The other side will curl out. Keep curling it out, and relaxing until the two are equal. Open a few beers and reward yourself. Entire fix takes 5 minutes and requires no cutting or welding. Unless you are replacing that pipe with a larger diameter pipe, there is no need to cut it loose and reweld. My method just reverses the twist you did by accident.
@khtractors9 күн бұрын
I understand but it also further weakens the pipe. Just like twisting a wire multiple times to break it when you don’t have cutters.

Thanks K&H! I just noticed the same thing on mine last night and couldn't figure out what happened. After watching your video I now know this is exactly the same case as mine. Will be doing a repair video soon myself. Thanks for posting. Liked and subbed. Take care!

I’m glad it helped you! This was a fairly simple fix if anyone has welding and cutting skills. Best of luck on your repairs!

Now I really enjoyed this video 👍 I fixed a friends tractor same thing on the quick attach . I removed the round bar completely then replaced with 4140 hot rolled . Preheated too 300 degrees and Welded with 110 -18 rod stress relieving with a needle peener each pass . The oringinal bar was just hot rolled mild steel . Junk and already over stressed from twisting . My friend stopped by too check out the repair and thought It was ready . Not so fast . Curled the quickattch back all the way then shut the tractor off and removed the rear line on the bucket clylinders . Fired up and held the lever control on back curler . Oil came running out the left cylinder port . The cylinder was bypassing bad internally . Right cylinder was doing all the work . Rebuilt both cylinders . 800 hours of hard work I guess they where due . Problem solved . At work we went thru many brands of cast welding rod . The best one we found has been MG 210 high strength cast rod . Out performed everybody’s in difficult situations .It will weld clean and strong no pin holes . There flux and metal deposit is amazing . Stress relieving every pass also . Somebody hit something good too break that axle housing . Great job on the repair 👍👍👍👍

I’ll have to try some of those rods one day! Yes a bypassing cylinder would definitely cause that, I’m thinking this happened from only having one side latched and the other slipping out. My M6060 has a think wall 3” pipe instead of that small rod. Thanks for watching!
@@khtractors Have too agree on the tube . I use too build quick attaches on tractors with out . I always used heavy wall square or round tube 👍

Nice job on the 2 fixes buddy. Hey on that skidsteer coupler I would take some angle iron maybe 1x1 angle and lay it over that cross bar that keeps twisting on you, weld the angle iron to the bar and then to each side of the couplers and I bet it never twists again. They shoulda at least used solid square bar there cuz I can see how that round bar could twist.. sometimes those curl cylinders won’t wanna move at the same rate and if your in a certain situation putting load on one side I can see how it would wanna twist with only just that one bar in the middle. Nice job fixing that knuckle too your right they ain’t cheap, and cast is damn hard to weld so nice job!
@khtractors3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That was too small of a diameter rod to use on that quick attach. It needed something square or a bigger diameter rod or pipe. If it happens to him again we will do something different for sure.

One of my qucik attach locke came loose and before i noticed it it had dropped to one side and now its warped,,,should i just cut rod in center and re attach latches and reweld with some bracing,,no way the cross member is strong enough

I got one of those surveys. Like you, i looked forward to giving my opinion on some actual improvements. Also like you, i stopped when i saw how foolish the questions were. I came away with a bad taste in my mouth and a sincere belief i will be parting ways with modern tractors should even half of their survey be implemented. The rod was the culprit for certain, your repair was novel. 👍🏻

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who felt that way about the survey! I guess like you, if tractors go that direction I’ll not be buying another new one. Thanks Mark!

Good job on those repairs! That’s crazy they sent you a survey with those kind of questions and crazy they would even be thinking about putting some of that stuff on a tractor. But heck got lawnmowers now with a keypad in order to crank them now so who knows what they will come up with. Good video as always.

Why don't you put it on the concrete and push down and heat the cross brase

May want to shim the low side with a quarter inch plus or minus piece of material under the pad you counteract the torsion and tendency for it to not stay level, in place, after your weld... Making this comment before I see the final result after you release the pressure, but your technique was pretty right on good job

One more comment . If you ever get a chance too try a hypertherm plasma cutter try the gouging tip . When we got this at work I just had too get one for home . Wasn’t cheap but was the best money ever spent . Paint rust nothing stops this thing gouging and you can set the machine for really neat easy weld removal. My torches and carbon arc gouger sit idle now . My life and repairs in the shop has changed dramatically . I don’t know how I did without this thing . Wife was going too shoot me when she found how much I spent 😂 So I did some nice art work for her and things are good now 😂👍👍

I need a good plasma cutter at home. I have two Thermal Dynamics and a Miller at school. Never used a Hypertherm but hear they are the best!

Heck of a job. How'd the hub hold up over time? I have a hard time with cast. I sometimes try to find the start of the crack and drill a hole, then gouge it out some first. Bout a 50/50 shot of it lasting at my skill level 😂

Everything you mentioned on that survey sounded dumb. Tractors should run on diesel to start with. That is the ideal fuel. They already have too many sensors

Why in the world couldn’t you just cut it down the middle and re-weld it back together?

Because that’s the lazy way out and you’ll not have near the strength. With some paint this repair looked factory when finished instead of a cobbled up mess.

@@khtractors Yah - i'm gonna try it before spending $800 on a new quick attach. Difference is on the mahindra its a square tube. Makes the twist much more obvious. I was trying to fork lift a chicken house...dumb - thought it was much lighter.
