This was the only helpful video I've seen since I started looking for ways to help fix my sofa in the last 2 hours of searching. Thank you so much.

Thank you. It was nice to watch a real person fixing and filming. It gave me hope that I too can fix our couch. You’re so calm and cool about the whole project. Thanks for modeling the ability to fix things!

Thank you for saving me a bunch of money. I had some broken springs inside one of the cushions on my sectional. When I looked under the couch 2 months ago, I didn't see the zipper because there is an extra layer of thick cloth supporting the outside springs under the dust cover. Once I pulled that back I found the zipper and doctored up the broken springs inside the cushion with cable ties, padding and some tape. Now my couch is being back to brand new.

Hi from down under. You made a very useful and uncommon video. Repairing a very common style of sofa and it's common problems. Sometimes that is all that we need when we have a family with kids. Great solutions to a common problem that I haven't seen before. Thank you!

This is so helpful, I love KZfaq for learning how to fix things. I wish more people would try to repair what they have rather than just throwing them away. Great job. Looks like a very comfy couch 🛋

This video was super helpful. My couch was a pain trying to get the springs stretched as part of the wood split from the original staples. Anyways it will last until I can get new one. Thank You

Good luck re-hammering those fabric clips back to the frame. I guess it was easier just to add the video clip in reverse so it looks like it’s easy. Lol. You can get these clips pretty cheap on Amazon. If you would have glued a piece of wood to the one that broke and screws it would have been better than the string. I’m sure we all have our own different ways to do it. But you work with what you have. Thumbs up.

@@sweetmoney6907 I did! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I really was so scared bc I had no idea what I was gonna find. Lmao! It was a busted belt & worn pads. I did a repair but another spot busted. 😖. The belts sit directly against wood supports. It wasn't smartly made, they rub & wear down & then boom, your ass is on the floor 🤣 🤣 🤣

Its good to be handy, thanks for sharing, blessings. Can't wait to fix our sofa. ps-instead of just binding the wood with string, consider buddy sticks tied, strapped and duck-taped, it will not be breaking again unless some adult child bounces on the sofa-lol

@@jeremynsuess very late but buddy sticking is taking a broken beam and binding it to a regular beam to support it. Like buddy taping your broken finger to a healthy finger.

I have this exact same couch and it is total crap. I've had it for six months and the support spring that goes across all the springs has broken in four places. It looks like yours is broken too but I only saw it broke in one place. I took it apart and wrapped twine across it for more support and it worked for a couple days and it is back to a sagging mess. Idk what to do. It is brand new but sags like no other.
@alexdobo32706 жыл бұрын
I feel your struggle it was the same story for me we got ours at American frieght maybe a strong wire would suffice better than twine we ended up getting a new set of furniture
@amandaserena20076 жыл бұрын
Alexander Dobosiewicz I really don't want to do that and I shouldn't have to. I have other big things at the moment I need to worry about taking care of. I'll figure something out. Frumpy couch is right lol. I don't blame you for junking it. If I could afford to I would too.

The spring clips on my sofa are plastic. One of them just broken off and I can't just put the spring back as you did. Yours are metal clips, which should not be broken off.
@leeluv964 жыл бұрын
You should be able to find metal ones at the hardware store, furniture supply store, or Amazon online.

Question: I got my materials and opened the dust cover under the couch. Unlike your couch, mine has "divets" along the top of the cushions, that are held down with taut strings attached to the frame. It looks like a spider web under there. I'm not confident that I will be able to cut the strings and replace and attach them properly. Am I out of luck now? Should I just work around the strings or cut them?
@xsietube3 жыл бұрын
Do you have weaved strapping for support rather than springs? Or are your cushions tufted (like they have dimples)?
@CC-qv3mi3 жыл бұрын
@@xsietube No, I have springs. It was all really tight and in great shape underneath so I wasn't able to get in from the bottom. So I ripped the seams at one corner of each cushion and stuffed handfuls of Polyfil through the hole. Yes, the cushions have dimples. But the stuffing itself is an almost-but-not-quite-solid rectangle of something also like Polyfil inside a non-woven case which tears fairly easily. I was able to worm my arm through all the strings holding the dimples down, using a nylon salad fork to reach the far corners. I tore and reshaped the existing stuffing when that made sense, otherwise pushing new Polyfil past it to fill the holes. I added almost 10 pounds of new Polyfil. The couch looks and feels better than when it was new. Just have to restitch now. My seams won't look perfect, but I'm just so glad that I didn't have to send it out for repair.
