Thank you for taking the time to make this video. My problem wasn't the 'o' ring it was the 3-way 'y' plastic valve. So I paid out for 'o' rings i didn't need BUT your video gave me the confidence to take the job on and start the elimination process that ultimately saved me buying a new Dedica. Thanks again!

Hi, where you bought it? Your case sounds like mine, water isn't ejected, properly, around the ring not just by the middle dropping, opened and realized looks like can't drain properly so on rejected to inside as well

Hey Jonesy, nice video in case this ever happens to mine, which I have had already for 5 years. Just wanted to mention, it is GOOD, that it leaks out of the bottom in case of an internal leak, because otherwise it would fill up inside and fry the electronics. I figure they probably designed it that way, so that it wouldn't self destruct in case of a leak. Cheers!

The steamer knob is also prone to leakage from the silicone seal inside. These machines are very prone to problems, my machine failed me after 11 months from that silicone seal I mentioned. How it happened: It worked fine during extraction, and also performed with no problem during the milk frothing, however when you proceed with cooling the boiler by letting steam and afterwards water out from the steam line, the seal gives away and lets water leak into the exact same spot that you mentioned in the video. It also happens when you want to heat water for tea or something. Result: inside screws were all oxidized. I also have to mention that the steamer knob as it is made of cheap plastic and that the switch positioned above as well as the knob itself starts to move from its original position and fails to make contact and you have to push the knob upwards in order to activate the steam pump and get it to work again. This machine makes good coffee, and I had mine in impeccable shape, always cleaned it after use and descaled it at the recommended time, however it did not prevent from it failing just shy of one year. If I knew now what I have known then, I would not have bought this machine.

Thanks for the video. My problem was the damn little spring and ball underneath the feed decided to lodge itself weirdly. Tip for the orings if anyones seeing this. Just put the oring ON THE hose at the very end (Not quite all the way seated) and push it back in. Then pull the hose back out and verify that the oring is seated in there correctly.

Personally, I enjoyed listening to excellent NON-American English and just got high from it. However, I did not understand at all where to put this 2x4x2 spacer. I have the same problem with the EC680 and I took the whole thing apart to see if it was the gasket that is in the three part where the horn is inserted. It's very difficult and I was happy to find your solution video. I want to do as you did, and I want to ask you if you could give me a couple of minutes and explain the algorithm in the form of a picture-text. This can be done to my mail or post a video with a photo and text on KZfaq. I am sure that you will be grateful to a huge mass of people who find it very difficult to grasp the essence of the decision by ear. Thank you in any case and happiness in life🙏

Good tips. But.. Mine leaked from the main dispenser when I switched it on. It was dry inside so none of the connections were leaky. Drips continue after a cup is made so I thought it was a heat issue.. expanding joints etc. Nevertheless, I replaced 3 o-rings that I could get to - the one you said, plus one at the back of the machine and one just above the dispenser.. and it cured it.. performs now as when new.

Last time it did this, I flushed the brewer head, descaled good as new. Not this time. Adjusting the grind gave drip coffee results. I've always used same beans same grind. Many thanks for this video. I have a dripping frother outlet, which I'm presuming may be a similar problem of a leaking 'O' ring, but I was initially looking for a video on how to get into the innards of this machine, to see if I can replace what is becoming a very slow pump - and your video covers the initial problem of access perfectly. Thanks!

Did you manage to fix it? My frother is leaking and I'm struggling to find anything online to help fix it
@Ayjay2785
@Ayjay2785 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jess-cv9gi No Jess, I haven't done anything about it to date, but my frother outlet is now leaking too, but I'm also finding standing water below the machine after operation. We have a local DIY shop that sells a range of things, which hopefully will include 'O' rings, but having removed the case, it's a jumble of pipes inside, so I'm concerned about making a simple problem worse if I can't immediately see the problem, so I may just stick with a dripping pipe for the moment!
@Ayjay2785
@Ayjay2785 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jess-cv9gi Hi again Jess. I "bit the bullet" this morning and removed the top, as described in the video, while (very carefully!) making coffee. As was to be expected, sods law kicked in and the frother nozzle didn't leak! However, I was looking to see where a potential leak may come from and other than the pipe held with a spring clip just above where the nozzle pipe goes through the body of the machine, I could find nothing that would suggest a dripping nozzle - UNLESS - it was a failed 'O' ring elsewhere in the system, as described in the video. The only possible place I could see where that might happen, was on the narrow pipe that goes into the left-hand side of the switch attached to the frother nozzle lever. If you stop the video at 3 mins. 10 secs., you'll see this pipe towards the bottom of the picture, entering the nozzle lever switch on the left, below the 2 white connectors, (it's the thin pipe, on the left, NOT the larger one with a spring clip at the front.). Having looked on eBay, there are loads of listings for 'O' rings, but you need to search for those associated with either plumbing or hydraulics. I couldn't find any that gave a size of 4mm hole by 8mm diameter, but there were a couple with a 4.5mm hole, by 8mm diameter and I'm wondering if these were what were used, as I think it would be extremely difficult to differentiate between a 4mm hole and a 4.5mm one! As they were listed under plumbing and hydraulics, it could be worthwhile checking with a local plumbing shop, to see if they have anything suitable. As for my leak at the bottom of the machine - I did fix that. I took off the base plate, then removed the 3 screws holding the sprung water connectors in place and discovered that one pipe needed pushing on tighter. Another possible reason was that the water reservoir needs to be pushed firmly into place, as I think that was also allowing water to seep out due to the suction action, if the reservoir was not pushed firmly into place. Hope this helps. Alan

@@Ayjay2785 Thanks! I also couldn't see any immediate problems when I opened mine up so suspect a similar issue. For fear of making it worse (this is far out of my skill set) I may hand it over to a professional but good to know this might be an approach to try!

@@Jess-cv9gi Hi again Jess, Eureka! Today, I've fixed the leak on the dripping frother spout at a cost of £9.99. It was quite simple - though of course, the definition of "quite simple" depends on how "techie" you feel you want to be! Having purchased the replacement valve, it required 2 screwdrivers, a pair of pliers and a "dooberee" - AKA a small, sharp implement, ( I used a very small flat-head screwdriver,) to remove the 'O' ring from the old valve, which came out fine. If you feel you'd be prepared to tackle it, let me know and I'll prepare some details.

I pulled the pipe out as per the video, and could not reach for the o-ring. On top of this, I'm struggling to fit the pipe back into the right-angle bend and get it to stay in place; I can't push it in far enough to secure it with the clip. Any help?

I managed to solve my issue, I fashioned an old paperclip into a hook and fished the o-ring out, there was no damage to it but replaced it with a fresh one as my machine is 3 yrs old. I put the fresh o-ring on the end of the tube before fitting it back in :)

I have problem with my machine, each time I use the frother, the lights of single and double shot start blinking and I have to restart the machine to get an espresso shot, any suggestions how to fix that?

The lights blink after frothing because the boiler is too hot and has to cool down, the best thing to do once you see the lights flashing, rotate the steam lever to pump cold water from the tank. The machine will stop pumping water automatically. Rotate the lever back and you should be good to go.

I think they're telling us to say ess-presso. In my own home with the audience of 1 cat, who's going to know?

Delonghi have really good Designs but very very poor builds. Plastics everywhere. These are cheaply made machines. A used italian espresso machine cost s less, makes better espresso and lasts forever with minimal maintenance.
