How to Fix a Flat tire on a Bike
You will need something to pry the tire off of the rim.
There is a tool for this, but you can also use screw drivers, you just need to be careful not to pinch the tube.
You can patch the tire (I don't show that in this video).
I show you how to replace the tube.

Imagine my surprise a few years ago when attempting to fix a bicycle tire that I discovered that there is more than one type of tire valve. Just like me, your viewers may not know this. Thank goodness for the internet. The one we are all use to is the Schrader valve like on car tires. The other is a Presta valve. When you buy a hand pump, make sure you have the provided adapter if you are dealing with a Presta valve. The two don’t work the same way. I remember wondering why someone thought it was some sort of improvement.

I know you'll probably not see this, but this channel is really nice to see. My old man wasn't around much because of his work (he worked a lot of overtime, and was always sleeping or working), and he wasn't around to teach me much. You're doing good work by just teaching everyday things to folks out there. Keep doing the work of men, old man!

I do have a dad but he doesn't really know how to be one. He was 21 when I was born and has ADHD but isn't medicated, the saddest thing is he expects me to know everything but I'm lucky he's taught me how to dunk oreos in milk... Thank you for making this channel for everyone else who doesn't have a dad or has one like mine. You've taught me more than he has my whole 14 years of life, but I still love him either way. You've taught me how to jumpstart a vehicle, how to fill a hole in a wall, how to fix a running toilet, how to shave a beard, and how to change a tire. Not gonna lie, I got here by accident, it just popped up in my recommended. But it's nice to see someone teaching people, from my point of view, "basics things". I was lucky enough for my own father to teach me this kind of thing, although I should say, he always forced me by saying "come here, you'll need it someday". I learned from my own experience that not everyone has this "basic knowledge", when my friend (who had no father) had flat tire on his bike and he didn't know how to repair it, so the proud 10-year-old me, showed him how to do such things xD My heart feels warm when I see this channel. You have my subscription and I look forward to more content, even just to see if you have other ways to do some things than my father or to learn something new.

Good Joke:) I am going to use it :) I want to start off by thanking you for making this video and I appreciate what you are doing. However, I am a long-time cyclist over a variety bicycle styles and I would like to weigh in on your advice which isn't bad at all but could use some clarification. Flathead screwdrivers will work in a pinch, but I highly recommend not using them. Thin rims for certain bicycles can be damaged by them or the tube or even the tires. The tools for removing tires from rims are called spoons and they were even once used on automotive tires but made of iron. The ones used for bicycle tires are made of plastic, are much easier to handle, and are very efficient at the job, especially for more youthful hands. You can buy kits that carry these spoon tools specifically made for bicycle tires and I would highly recommend the purchase of these tools because you are more likely not to be at home when you need to fix a flat tire. You should always carry at least one but perhaps two spare tubes for a tube tire, a patch kit and the tools you will need for quick repairs on a bicycle. Thank you and God Bless.
