How to Fix a Harbor Breeze Fan and Lights with Remote Control

This video is about fixing a Harbor Breeze Fan and Lights with Remote Control, Model # TDCV1152BPSLKLRC.
The lights started to blink on and off and eventually died. Changing the light bulbs did not work. Had to replace the receiver for the remote control.
The fan was stuck in one mode, slow and made a loud humming sound. Had to replace the capacitor.

SPOT ON!!! I have a Hunter Fan that the lights were not working. I tried removing the wattage limiter from lighting control as seen on other KZfaq vids...still no lights. So back to KZfaq and I found this video. Followed the same steps as outlined for removing the remote control module, hooked up the wires as shown and now I have a fan WITH a light! Thanks for taking the time to make this informative video.

Hey guys. My harbor fan was not working properly. Turns out the the remote had four tiny settings inside of it, where you put the battery. Some how one of the four settings got turned off on mine so I just turned each one on and off till I found the right one , it works fine now. So there’s some info for y’all if ya need it.

Very helpful. First, my fan ran slow but the lights worked correctly. I stopped trying to use the fan. Then the light didn't work at all, even though I tried cycling both the remote and the pull chain (on my model of HB ceiling fan). Then I found your video...just what I needed. Thank you. I'll be calling HB tomorrow, Monday. One Last thing, FOR THE HARBOR BREEZE COMPANY, since they SUPPORT WHAT THEY SELL BY PROVIDING PARTS AT NO COST when their fans break, I WILL BE A LOYAL HARBOR BREEZE CUSTOMER FROM NOW ON, and I won't buy any other brand! UPDATE: I thought my fan was a Harbor Breeze, because it said so on the pull chain...wrong! I checked for these electronics controls at Home Depot...didn't work (per above), went to Lowes, a few different ones to choose from, depending on features and price, another place to check is Wal-Mart! I found the exact same remote that I had, and it included with the electronics module ---worked like a charm. The original capacitor which I replaced tested good, but the electronics module has other capacitors that get added to adjust the speed. The newer modules also have a switch, so you can switch to be compatible with the old incandescent lights to the cooler and more efficient LED lights (BONUS!).

THANKS! Turns out my switches inside the remote were all off! I matched them to the receiver and boom, it worked.

Looks great, and with a brighter bulb installed that’s all the light you need. kzfaq.infoUgkxWF88GpljEn-0o34vtLFazEQ5h5Q33SjU As far as ease of installation- this was my first ceiling fan and it took about 3 hours because I had no idea what I was doing and also it’s helpful to have a second set of hands and a magnetic drill bit. Works great.

*Love it! Keeps the room very **Fastly.Cool** . The manual states it comes with a year warranty and 5 year part replacement. The compressor makes the typical sound...small price to pay for AC.*

i have the same fan except for no pull strings and no wall switch , no fnnn way to shut if off . the entire fan and light has not been working but the light gets red on the remote but doesn't engage anything , I recently had a power surge and the fan kicked on and that is all but the remote will still not work is there any chance as I have read up on that the dip pin switches can get messed up when you put in a new battery , so my next question would be is the dip pin switch only on that capacitor before I go by a new one

The dip pin switch is on the receiver and the remote control. If you watch my video you’ll see that the receiver is housed in the top housing against the ceiling. Check to see that both the receiver and remote is set with the same sequence code so that they can communicate. You may have accidentally moved the code on the remote when you changed the battery. Or the receiver may be bad. Good luck!!!

What is the model number of the fan? I have exactly the same fan like you described and couldn't find the model number. Trying to buy remote control with dimmer to control both light and fan. I lost my remote.

Nawaraj Mudvary if you look at the top side of the fan housing there should be a piece of paper taped with the model number.

Great Video.O.k so The blue wire goes to the Red?I have a Harbour Breeze light and the fan Works but the light Does Not??I wired it according to the Diagram and the light will not come on .So i Guess i should wire it this way? Help

Rob Gaggero Hi, Make sure you turn off the power source before touching electrical. The blue wire on the remote housing is for the lights. The red wire from the wall is the power source so attach the blue wire to the red wire. Turn on the power source and it should work.

I have no red wire from the wall. Where should I attach the blue wire?

There should be a wire/power source coming from the house. Use a multimeter (electrical tool) to check for the power source.

Repair parts were free? Is there a lifetime warranty on your Harbor Breeze fan? My fan looks identical to yours, your remote is identical as well. My fan is a couple years newer than yours. Has slightly different model number. My fan motor housing lists a different phone number. Your parts to be replaced are the same as my fan too! I need to order same parts you replaced. My fan lights are dim when turned on. .

Wane huggles Sorry for the late reply. Yes they were free. On top of the housing where your model # is should be a toll free phone number. Give them a call for your parts :)

This has been the most helpful video I have found. I also have an older harbor breeze, couldn’t find a Manuel anywhere, and could not find a power limiter either. Never thought the remote not working would make the light not work all together. Do you think it would be okay to just permanently delete the remote out of the equation?
