A great video, thanks! The carburetor jet on my Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine was indeed clogged as you described. The mower was my "spare" that I had not used in two years. I unscrewed the bowl, cleaned (blew it out with compressed air and sprayed it with carb cleaner), reassembled and test run all in about 10 minutes at no cost. Actually, the spare now runs better than the principle mower. Maybe I'll clean the jet of the principle mower next.

Worked for me! Saved me $200 to take it into a repair shop. I made sure to save this video. BTW, it worked on a lawnboy mower. 👍

just finished the job....at first I was disappointed but then have numerous tries I remembered that I disengaged the spark plug (safety first)....put the cap back on the plug and away she went.... very helpful Derek

Same problem. I had already bought, spark plug, air filter, new fuel line hose, and still it wouldn't stay running. Well after 2 weekends of trying to get mine started, I saw your video and said what the heck. I followed your directions and BAM it started on the 2nd pull and never stopped. Thank you sir!

This worked amazingly well, mower runs like new now! Very simple procedure. One tip is to wear latex gloves when taking out the screw, and put an old rag under the bowl, to avoid getting gas all over your hands and on the mower. (Even though the fuel line is crimped and closed, the remaining gas in the bowl comes out when the screw is loosened and removed.) Thank you so much!

This helped my mower work again! I used brake clean and sprayed it in the bolt hole instead of using the wire to clean it out! Runs perfect now!!!!

Thank you so much for doing this video! I was able to get my lawn mower running after watching this. I was about to take it to a repair place but I don't need to now. My lawn mower was running fine until I changed the oil, then it would stall out. I think it was from tipping it on its side which may have stirred up debris in the gas tank.

Thank you Sir, it took me less than half an hour and voila, my mower runs like new again. I had gave up after more than an hour tried to clean the spark plug, air filter and sprayed the carburetor with no success then decided to check on KZfaq videos and found yours.

So.e thing So Simply Stupid that stops the motor from running, I cleaned this carb multiple times and still no worky, I didn't see this even being a possibility because it was viewed as the fastener that hold the fuel bowl on, never gave it a thought that its actually the carb jet. Mine just started doing this! Ivreplaced carb last year and it had been running great. Not sure I knew about this issue, but will check it this morning and hopefully have success. Was planning on taking it apart today and this may save me a lot of time!!! You are,absolutely right, homeowners need to be able to do some of these repairs. Great video that got right to the issue!

You just saved me a ton of time and grief! I am NOT mechanical AT ALL, and my mower was doing the stop/start thing as described here. I took off the bowl (which had some weird gunk in it) and ended up draining all the gas just to be safe. The thing runs like a top now! Thank you so much for this video! WHEW!

Just wanted to say thank you, my mower had the same issue.Your tip worked well, i had a little petrol in the tank so i didnt crimp the fuel line. Opening the carb bulb and moving the float up and down while the fuel trickled out helped get all the dirt out. Once i had done this it started on first pull. Much appreciated 👍

Thanks, that was the last thing to try before replacing the carb or taking my mower in for service. I did spark plug, air filter, cleaned the carb as well. I knew it was a fuel starve issue. I admit a little pride in fixing myself besides saving money. Service was going to be $200 and about 2 weeks in shop on backlog.

I never work in grass if possible. If you drop a part, it will come alive and hide.

i just cleaned my carb after sitting all winter, mower ran fine for 3 weeks then this happened! after checking everything removing the fuel pot was the last thing i did, mine doesn't have the wee holes but draining and refilling did the trick..next time i'm going here first!! 🤣 happy mowing

I. Had a issue with my Mountfield no gas problem was the brake lever on the handle being slightly bent so make sure it working correctly mine was missing firing found this fault last minute well happy

My wife and I just washed the underside of the lawn mower and it seems to have worked so far. We may have had a lot of grass build up not allowing it to want to run

Just fixed a Koehler that would start and then die , had to drill out the plastic idle jet . That's the black jet that you can take it out and tried some jet cleaners and it was just plugged up . So I used a micro drill but -and it did the trick . Good video !

Just got a $750 Honda mower for $50 because it was missing a gas cap air filter cover and wouldn't start and shut off like this. I got a cap for $4 air filter and new cover for a combined total of $9 and I figured it was a carb issue so I just bought a new carb for $16. Honestly some times it may be best to just spend the couple of bucks and buy a new carb it maybe worth it in the long run.
