thank you Mark you saved this pensioner a lot of money. it was easy. there did not seem to be anything clogged up there, however I gave it a wipe clean, & a spray with WD40 anyway. & I remembered to put a container underneath to catch the water . Thanks again cheers Helen.

Thank you so much I actually was able to pull the lip up with a screwdriver and then when she showed me how to twist the top off because I had a pedestal sink up against the wall and I wasn’t able to reach the guts underneath so I had a cap of a plastic a little twisty piece for him Moisturizing eyedrops that got stuck and it wedged it and once I screwed that top off that was the problem the drain was completely clean. Everything was functioning properly but thank you for the video save me a heartache and I was so proud I was able to fix it myself with your help, of course!!!!

Hey Mark, my pop-up drain has a bobby pin stuck in it, so that the pop up is pushed down, and jammed against a bobby pin I can’t pull out. Will this technique apply to my sink?

Thanks for the tutorial, unfortunately I broke the whole plug with the excess force below using a screwdriver. It was very stuck, then boom the whole plug busted out and had snapped off at base. At least I have the drainage hole open now.

I fixed 2 of them last week. It is due to the mechanism having corrosion in the track within the pins for locking up an down. Just remove the spring assembly, disassemble it, clean it, remove rust using steel wool, reassemble, lubricate and put back in place. It will take you 20 minutes. No need to buy a new drain plug.

Hi Mark and many thanks, but I found that I never needed to remove the trap, I just lightly tapped a small piece of wood onto the chrome plug from above a few times and it sprung up 👍
