Also try a dehumidifying cabinet, i had a customer dunk a Canon 5DMKII w/24-105mm in water and didn't work so I put it in the dehumidifying cabinet for 3 days and it was dry as a bone and worked perfectly again.

I left it in the garden and then it rained. Battery compartment dry. view screen moist inside at the corners but not all over. Plug access not soaked but two drops of water NOT in the openings. I remembered the jar of little dessicant packages I saved for years, put them and the camera in a plastic bag. And now I will wait the listed 3 days with more confidence than a bag of rice. Fabulous pics of amazing PuffBall harvest are in there. Harvest is now in the freezer and soup pot, not as photogenic. Crossing fingers.

Sad news from the camera: only partial recovery. To work it put in batteries, take pic, take out batteries. Regular black click button on top dead. Use blue clicker on back. Bummer.
