might be too late to comment but my passenger side light steamed up then the drls on that side stopped working and full beam on both sides stopped working. I removed the board which had white powder on it and cleaned it. i replaced it and still nothing. i then swapped the board from the drivers side and still no drls but the driver side worked with the passenger side board installed. I then removed the metal side ballast and swapped them around and still no drl. I have indicator both sides, dipped beam both sides but no full beam or flashing any side and still no drl on passenger side. I'm going to try and test the drl bulbs as you've shown tomorrow but have you any other suggestions please.

Update, I removed the clear plastic lens cover and completely stripped out the headlight workings. I removed everything including the internal harness and found the problem. In a previous attempt to dry the light I placed a hot air gun in the top hole of the light and it was drying nicely, I then left it running for 2 minutes sat in the hole to get a screwdriver for my shed and, when I returned, the hot air gun had melted down into the light. This then melted several of the tiny harness wires and bridges some of them. I was able to carefully separate them and then solder in new cables. To be honest, it was fidgety but easy enough with patience. I then plugged all lights back into the main harness without re-building the light and everything worked perfectly. I've learned some things from this experience, namely:- 1. If you find moisture in your lights deal with it ASAP (I left mine too long which made things worse). 2. DO NOT USE a hot air gun because they are simply too hot, use a hairdryer instead but DO NOT leave any heat source unattended. My problem was self inflicted due to the melting. 3. Don't be afraid to remove the bumper it's actually not that difficult. 4. You can each some of the components from the wheel arch to check the main electrical board so check that first to see if there are signs of corrosion and steel wool them to try that first then, if that works, remove the light, dry it and re-seal it. 5. Removing the clear lens cover is very difficult so take your time and don't be afraid to cut off some tabs to make it easier because, once re-sealed it will be just fine. 6. I'm not sure whether this is right or wrong but, in my case, I drilled 2 small holes directly below the main electrical board in both headlights and covered them with fine aluminium mesh to prevent insects getting in. My theory is that the most delicate, sensitive part of the light (the electrics) is placed at the lowest point of the headlight body so the slightest bit of condensation will gather there so, by letting it escape I hope to increase ventilation and stop moisture build up. I've "accidentally" exceeded 80MPH in rain and so far the lights have remained dry with no water getting into the bottom holes. And finally, make good use of youtubers experience and follow them carefully because, if it hadn't been for this video, I would not have been able to repair my headlight. Its been nearly a month now of use in our crazy Scottish weather, torrential rain one minute and hot sun the next and my light is still fog free so lets hope it stays that way. Thanks again Tutoriale for saving me in excess of £786 for one light here in the UK.

@@tsanders11 I bet that you also need to take the wheel out. Otherwise there is too little amount of space to work with. If the wheel is out, it's only a few nuts to take the liner out. Not sure if that's what you did? There is more clearance with the liner out. But I think you still need a angle ratchet to get one of the screws as you can only get to it from an angle. I knew this because I took the whole left light out to check water condensation issues and replacing the TMS. I wanted to take the working TMS from the right light to make sure the TMS is the only fault part. I gave up and go ahead to buy a new one anyways.

@@tsanders11 Quite right! what's with all the NEED to strip the car? If you're just replacing the TMS Module you can easily do ithis job with the H/L insitu! However, my experience with TMS failures is as a result of condensation caused by substantial water ingress....there is a requirement to remove the units to literally tip the water out of the glass & reflectors plus dry the removed modules & H/L over days to rid the moisture. Please see my reply to Bryan Dunne on 26:06:2022 above for details

I'm constantly amazed by the lack of technical knowledge of these KZfaq DIY video-posters! I don't imagine there's anybody out there that is interested in changing a TMS Module in less time than the length of this video?? You really don't have to strip half the car to change these modules!! Also note that the module has a unique part number relative to the car model & headlight functions supported. Seek informed advice before buying the module & be aware that most all AHL (Adaptive Head Light) modules are NOT plug & play! There's likely to be coding required, so not really a job for Mr Joe Average?

@Bryan Dunne You are spot-on mate! As per my original post the removal of all those components is a waste of time/ life. I changed left for right TMS sensor to verify tHe issue.... then dug deep in the money-bag to buy a ‘proper’ TMS that would work properly on an auto-dip, directional (steering), dog’s danglies OE. set-up that had no angel rings working, intermittent indicators ( or fast flashing) & high beams that searched left to right as you drive! That was on Auto light switch. High beams didn’t search on manual.... but weren’t straight ahead either!! TBH this is another f****ng BMW design gaff IMO! Those plastic gutters under the bonnet discharge rainwater & wash-water directly onto the back of the headlight unit & you will find the cable entries go through a ridiculously large aperture on the TOP of the plug which routes said water directly into the headlight & onto the TMS circuit board stooopidly located at the bottom to make sure it stays wet always 🤬 Most of the time future issues post TMS replacement is the loss of high-end functionality without doing recoding. Further along is the corrosion of the h/l electrical connections that the TMS plugs into coz one delayed too long fixing it.🙄 If you take any version of the F10 to a Main Stealer or specialist aftermarket BMW garage they will (in my case) just replace both H/L units & both TMS at a cost of £3700 (2021) So it’s well worth investing a bit of effort. The DIY process is as per the lengthy video, strip the headlights ensuring all water is tipped out & air dry. Place all removed components for air drying. Examine H/L TMS sockets & thoroughly clean with contact cleaner as appropriate. I resealed the plastic lens to the black body with ‘Stick-like-Shit’ clear silicone all round. Refit modules & seal as required. Fill the top of the H/L wired plug with silicone to seal top entry & put a duct-tape curved canopy over the top of it when plugged-in to shed off water falling down there! Reassemble the car, testing function before finishing.🤘👌HTH.🤞 Don’t even get me started on the infamous 5 Series wet passenger footwell Issues! 🤬🤬🤬

That access panel is poorly designed. It allows water to get to the back of the headlight. I had condensation inside the headlight, I put gasket silicon onto both the headlight access round panels. When I put the wheel well panel back on, I put clear bathroom silicon on the panel before I put it back on to keep water from getting in. I have not had an issue since.
